This guy is the Devils 2nd best prospect behind McLeod. (Zacha doesn't count as prospect anymore)

Maybe, although, goalies are definitely the most difficult position to project. His draft +1 and draft +2 years are exactly what you want to see from a very good goalie prospect.

Draft +1- dominated the OHL
Draft +2- showed drastic improvement in first pro year, took over the starting duties and is getting playoff experience.

Hopefully next year, he can continue his improvement and be .915+

He's one of the better goalie prospects out there. He's got a very rare combo of athleticism and size and is raw.

Honestly he has potential to be like Pekka Rinne.

He has been .923 since New Years.

He has been .923 since New Years.

Which is definitely encouraging but he only has 36 GP overall. I'd like to see a full season out of him as the starter at the AHL level next year. If he plays lockdown next year, he can definitely be ticketed for the big club in 2018-19 IMO.

Still a bad pick no matter how it turns out.... using a #36 in a deep draft on a goalie, the most unpredictable position in sports, is moronic...if it turns out well it's just Forrest Gump stupidity.

If he turns into the next great elite goaltender, it's still a bad pick to you?

Yup. And I will root for him to be the next great the whole time.

But it'll never change the fact that turning a #36 into a #42 in a deep and taking a goalie is a dumbass move.

Blackwood is the very reason you draft BPA and not by need, mostly because it's hard to predict what your needs will be when that prospect is ready. When we drafted Blackwood it was apparent by the comments made that day goaltending was not a need for us, look how wrong that turn out to be.

His positioning kind of reminds me of Cory's back when Cory was still at his best.

Just how he squares up to a shot.

Goaltenders are generic.

Again with the "deep draft" talk. Is there any proof that the 2015 draft was deep and that moving back 6 spots was a mistake?

Yeah but you don't know what their take was, if he was drafted because Shero or someone saw something in the kid and they've been proven right, you can't possibly call it a bad pick, you're making it sound like all goalies are gambles and stumbling on one has all to do more with pure luck and not possibly exceptional scouting.
