This guy is the Devils 2nd best prospect behind McLeod. (Zacha doesn't count as prospect anymore)

He has been .923 since New Years.Maybe, although, goalies are definitely the most difficult position to project. His draft +1 and draft +2 years are exactly what you want to see from a very good goalie prospect.
Draft +1- dominated the OHL
Draft +2- showed drastic improvement in first pro year, took over the starting duties and is getting playoff experience.
Hopefully next year, he can continue his improvement and be .915+

Blackwood having a rough one tonight against TOR. Pulled after giving up 4, 3 of them were extremely soft
I figured he would get lit up after all the excessive premature praise of late on HF.
Because that cause and effect is obviously related

Talk about a jinx thread!
Exactly my thoughts leading up to yesterdays game.
Holy Nostradamus!Cory could fall off a cliff by the time he is ready. You don't know which is why you have organizational depth to prepare for whatever happens.
I rather use one pick now then 3+ picks on a trade a few years down the line. Goalie prices are to expensive.
If he turns into the next great elite goaltender, it's still a bad pick to you?Still a bad pick no matter how it turns out.... using a #36 in a deep draft on a goalie, the most unpredictable position in sports, is moronic...if it turns out well it's just Forrest Gump stupidity.
Yup. And I will root for him to be the next great the whole time.If he turns into the next great elite goaltender, it's still a bad pick to you?
Goaltenders are generic.Blackwood is the very reason you draft BPA and not by need, mostly because it's hard to predict what your needs will be when that prospect is ready. When we drafted Blackwood it was apparent by the comments made that day goaltending was not a need for us, look how wrong that turn out to be.
Yeah but you don't know what their take was, if he was drafted because Shero or someone saw something in the kid and they've been proven right, you can't possibly call it a bad pick, you're making it sound like all goalies are gambles and stumbling on one has all to do more with pure luck and not possibly exceptional scouting.Yup. And I will root for him to be the next great the whole time.
But it'll never change the fact that turning a #36 into a #42 in a deep and taking a goalie is a dumbass move.
