Former 2016 second round draft selection of the Hurricanes comes over from the Hurricanes organization. I actually thought the Hurricanes were moving forwards to bring him up this season then he becomes traded himself.

Kuokkanen has already been an impact player with the Binghamton Devils. A solid playmaker who can also chip in goals.

He may get the call this season or has all the opportunity to make the big team next season out of camp.

Fitz said the plan is to call him up before the season ends, but he definitely has had an immediate impact in Bing who is in the middle of a playoff push.

Dzingel is turning 28 in a couple of weeks so I don't think that'd be someone who 'grows' with the team. Similar in age to Vatanen. If they want a guy that can possibly contribute soon while also getting younger it'd be guys like Kuokkanen and Bokk that could do so.

Hoepfully Bingo makes the playoffs because it'd be fun to see them at full-strength with Anderson, Boqvist, Mermis etc. joining the team

If Nas is going to dick around like this, at least bring up someone that is NOT worth bringing up like Baddock or something.

Exciting to see his New Jersey debut. I think that he will fit well with the young forward core of the Devils. It's a shame indeed that he starts in the 4th line but on the other hand he gotta earn his ice time and role higher.

I don't think Carolina should've let this guy go. They sent him up and down too much between AHL and NHL and didn't really help the guy succeed in the NHL. I feel like Carolina has been spoiled with their AHL team having a lot of good players and it was smart for New Jersey to take this guy from them. It will probably look like a steal in couple of years.

Kuokkanen just scored for Kärpät in Liiga season opener to tie the game at 2. Went high glove from the slot after long offensive zone pressure from Kärpät.

He was on the ice for both goals against, both were D turnovers, nothing he couldve done about those. Has looked better each shift, plays 4th line LW. About 10 shifts so far in 2 periods.

Nice. 4th line LW may be his role this year in NJ too. Kuokkanen-Zajac-McLeod or something like that maybe?

Did they just pronounce his name without the two k’s in the middle?

Ill admit that Swedish and Finnish are not my favorite-sounding languages but that caught me off guard

what time in the vid?
At around the 14-15 second mark when he takes a breather (as they make their way to the bench) and he starts the next sentence with Kuokkanen , without the two k’s

Unless Im misunderstanding the call which is very possible considering I dont speak the language lmao. Maybe @FinnishDevil would know?

Nope, his name is not said there, he just mentions the time of the goal; "kun 14(neljätoista)51(viisi-kymmentä-yksi)". As a Finnish speaker I don't understand how it's possible to mistake that for Kuokkanen lol, but it is such a different language after all.

And JUST IN CASE you mean the sentence before that, he says "when the New Jersey Devil makes the game 2-2 (kahteen-kahteen), I guess you can tell my confusion lol.

Thanks for sharing with us. It’s always great to learn something from a foreign language. I’m guessing your quoted language is supposed to be phonetic? Just note that the pronunciation is different enough that it is difficult for my English speaking brain to even sound out your transliteration. I’m sure that contributes to the confusion. I have a terrible ear for languages and am very jealous of those who can speak more than one with any precision.
