Cool name too. Sounds like Philly Area HS is an offensive league ;)

Technically he only had 45 points in 12 games. Somehow, that was only good enough for 9th in that league in scoring.

He was good in the T1EHL though, which is definitely a legit league. He'll be a player worth watching. Not necessarily the same style, but his profile reminds me a lot of Max Letunov.

german and poddubnnyi with 2 n to boot. epic name
He has one "n" in his name, it's just a typo on eliteprospects and everyone copies it because they don't know better.

His twitter and FHR news about U-18 use Poddubnyi which should be enough evidence.

He's 100% a legit player, but he played for a really small high school in one of the lowest leagues in the area. That being said, he was pretty much on the ice the whole game. I think he even double shifted at defense. His team only carried like 12 skaters. As you can see though, his Jr Flyers and T1 stats are legit. He's also about 6'1 not 5'10.

Drafted today #58 by Erie in the 2016 CHL Import Draft, he says he's considering going OHL or USHL.

What's it with Russians being called German, was that the new popular name of the late 90s there?

Officially signed with Erie:

Interested to see how he adjusts to the OHL.

Evidently he's now 6'2" 183 so size won't be a problem.

2017 is looking very interesting indeed. This kid could be an outside shot to be a big riser. He'll be a bigger player on a smaller skilled and experienced team.

Per yesterday's scrimmage roster, Poddubnyi's listed as LW/LC and his signing press release went with Gera rather than German, so the thread title's been adjusted accordingly. Erie has another scrimmage this morning before opening their exhibition schedule next week.

Gera is a diminutive of German. German -> Gera just like Aleksander -> Sasha, Mikhail -> Misha, Evgeny -> Zhenya and so on.

Maybe now. But I remember him playing RW for Russia with Grishakov (LW) and Statsenko (C).

Had a hat trick in his first preseason game. Off to a good start. Wonder where he will be ranked come draft time.
