I was hoping to see Mennell, but with Belpedio being a LHD I understand why it was him.

Nice.

Not that Menell is a known quantity, but his call-up was encouraging enough to not be too worried about where he's at. Belpedio was pretty good in his few NHL games last year, but it'll be nice to get another look. I think he's also the only LD (sort of) prospect we have that's anywhere close to being NHL ready.

If You pass up Belpeido on a call up and chance for Menell I got to imagine that would just about do it for him and this team and would want a trade. I believe be was difficult to resign the last time around and we havent given him much of a chance yet so I'd say hes earned it.

I would guess that Belpedio has a better all round game than Mennell, and can play both sides better. He's short, but pretty thick, and might be better able to take punishment than Mennell. With Suter, Spurge, Dumba, and Hunt, there's not a lot of call for another offensive Dman.
