I'm interested to know, from people who are decently traveled, which goal horn in the league is the loudest? I've heard a couple of different ones, like Anaheim's foghorn and LA's two sets of train horns, but I'm interested to get some more opinions.

The Devils goal horn gets my vote. The stereo and the music is also so loud everytime I leave the Prudential Center it is with a massive migraine. It's like a Sweet 16 party.

Lol, what? It's not loud at all. If you don't like it don't come to our stadium then! :sarcasm:

I've been to 5 current nhl arenas, Flyers get my vote. That thing makes my stomach vibrate, I enjoy it! Islanders' horn is loud too.

Flyers' horn is loud and obnoxious.
CBJ has the loudest goal horn if you count the cannon as part of the horn.

The weird thing about the Flyers' horn is it isn't that loud in person. Sounds louder through a TV broadcast.

Always thought Washington's goal horn was pretty long if you include the siren, too.

The Devils horn is really loud I will admit.

The Flyers one is weird. It sounds really loud on TV.... but in person it's not that loud despite the fact I could feel it in my chest haha.

I've been to 11 NHL arenas, these ones for me are the loudest (no particular order)

Leafs (especially if you sit near the area where the horn is located. The west end of the arena)
Devils
Kings
Red Wings (Joe Louis Arena horns)

Not the NHL; posted from The QMJHL Arena Guide - Eastlink Centre, Charlottetown Islanders about the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown on PEI;

"When I visited, every time the Islanders scored a goal, the team's goal horn was a gigantic foghorn that's loud enough to wake the dead. I found out later that it was actually the original ferry foghorn that was installed in Borden-Carleton near the Abegweit Passage, which was rendered redundant by the building of the Confederation Bridge. The damn thing was so loud that you instantly have change from celebrating a goal to pleading for mercy. Correspondent Tadd Phillips told me that the old foghorn was taken offline some years ago because the vibrations literally shook the building and interfered with the replay cams over the nets, which I absolutely would believe. It's insanity that it was ever a thing in the first place."

This NHL.com article from 2005 cites the approx. sound pressure level created by the Flyers' then-new dual horn system ("will exceed 140dB"). Sound pressure level is the number that could be used to determine which NHL horn actually has the "loudest" goal horn. The Philly system's low frequency content is what produces the "I could feel it in my chest" experience, and such a horn could definitely sound louder on the TV broadcast because the higher frequency content is what you hear with your ears.

Science & physiology aside, it seems someone @ The Hockey Writers recently ran out of pandemic hockey material just like we have ... https://thehockeywriters.com/a-goal-horn-story-ranking-the-nhls-horns-1-30/

This is an interesting point... we perceive higher frequencies as being louder, even if they're not actually louder.

So it's totally feasible that the loudest goal horn in the NHL could be a little easier on your ears than a technically quieter one. A loud, deep one would register as a feeling of vibration. A quieter, high pitched one would screech in your ears and make you feel like it was louder.

Maybe it's because there is no crowd in the clip, but the Tampa horn sounds really loud:
