Who was better?

Although both had stellar NHL careers during the same time period, they would likely both belong in the Hall of Very Good instead of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Chabot is a two-time Stanley Cup champion (1928, 1932) and Vezina Trophy winner (1935). He is also a First Team NHL All Star (1935) and two-time Allan Cup winner (1925, 1926)

Roach is a Stanley Cup winner (1922) and First Team NHL All Star (1933). He was also one a few goalies ever to captain his team when he was with the Toronto St. Patricks during the 1924–25 season.

Roach was also 3rd in Hart voting in 1924, well ahead of any other goalie, so that's as good as a de facto 1st team all-star.

If we are just looking at seasons in which their performances at the NHL level earned them recognition, Roach was 1st, 1st, 5th in his best 3 seasons. Chabot was 1st, 5th, 5th.
