Hi team,

For the coming season I have been approached by my local ice hockey team.
They are keen that I help them to find new sponsors for the coming season(s).

A decade ago I founded my own sportclub, setting connections with multiple stakeholders, getting sponsors and ending up in divers committees to promote the sport and help to develop it. During that period I also helped to set up two other teams.

Now, after a break of a few years I’m more then happy to help the boys out.

As the club already has a rich history, creating the storyboard is the easy part.

The challenge lays in the fact that we are a non- traditional hockey country, with lots of competition of our other local sports team.

Hence, I’m reaching out to people involved on club level, to see how you attract, keep sponsors and if we could exchange ideas, do’s and don’ts etc….
Cheers guys

Generally, sponsors support teams based on relationships. Find out where your core players work and ask those companies for support. Pick a bar to hang out after the game, and ask them for support. Ask the local hockey equipment shop. And so forth.

The most important thing is keeping a strong core of players together. I live in a non-traditional hockey region — everything is driven by a small number of very passionate people.
