the one bad thing is that boston has an insane amount of games against the sabres remaining, but I think the sabres will be motivated to beat the Bruins, we shall see

Starting off with your 5 straight wins how many times have we done that? Then 8-1 after 9 games?
Its possible but why haven't they done that before?

No idea if the stats back it up, but I feel like the Rangers perform better against better teams and consistently have letdowns against those they should beat. Pretty typical of an immature team that has talent but is just on the cusp of making it.

We need to make up 4 points, at least, over the next 13 games. That is very possible.

Boston has Buffalo (6 games), NYI ( 3 games ), Washington, Pittsburgh, NJD and NYR 2 games each.

Boston goes 9-8 in their last 17, we have to go at least 11-3-1 in our last 15
Boston goes 8-9; we have to go 10-4-1
Boston goes 7-10, we have to go 9-5-1

It's not that far fetched. Hopefully Buffalo can play spoiler, they have been playing much better as a team.

If we are 2-3 points behind them in the last two games of the season, we just gotta win those games.

I love NYR, but cant see them passing either Pens or Bruins.
Part of me prefers picking ~8th rather than ~14th, but will be keeping the faith til extinguished

They definitely have a chance but they really need to take care of these next 4 v. the Devils. Splitting the set and getting 4 or 5 points like they have been isn't enough against a team like that. They really need at the minimum 6 points and more likely 7 or all 8.

They're 4 points back with the Bruins having 2 games in hand. I think a realistic goal is to tie them in points leading into the 2 game set v. them to end the season. The Bruins will still have 2 games left after that but they're both v. Isles and Caps with both games being candidates for those teams to rest guys leading into the playoffs. If they're tied heading into those games, the Rangers control their own destiny as 2 regulation wins would get them in based on the regulation wins tiebreaker. So they need to make up 4 points leading into those final 2 games which I definitely think is doable but will require them to go on a run especially since Boston has 6 v. Buffalo. Controlling their own destiny, even if it requires back to back regulation wins, is really all you can ask for.

I think it's highly unlikely. If they do make it I hope the kids have a major part in it, but if they make it by riding the vets and giving the kids 10mins a game then I don't think it is productive. Maybe it'll up the trade value for the likes of Zib, Buch, and Strome and then we see what Gorton can do with that but the kids would just feel like there were dragged along unless Quinn starts leaning on them more.

Forget the schedule, the Bruins just trading for Taylor Hall.

    That’s our ticket.

They’re not mathematically eliminated yet, so I guess they have that going for them.

Yea I think they'll make it interesting but run out of track. This team is a playoff team over a full 82.

Last years team was closer to the playoffs after ~70 and this years team is much better.

On another note, this divisional set up has really killed all the races. Barring highly unforseen circumstances, everything is decided except for who will be Tampa's sacrifical lamb in the 1st round.

It would be great if we could remain alive for the last two games of the season against Boston. A win and you're win scenario. A wildcard situation. A pre-first round playoff series. Oh Baby that would be great.

Avs maintain grip on top spot in TSN Power Rankings
Apr 12, 2021 Avs maintain grip on top spot in TSN Power Rankings
"The New York Rangers move up from 10th to eighth on our list despite ranking 17th in points percentage. The Rangers went 2-1-1 last week and rank ninth in goal differential and fifth in expected goal differential this season. With four games coming up against a beatable New Jersey Devils team and strong underlying numbers, we expect the Rangers to continue to push for a playoff spot in the East Division. This is a team to watch."

These two mostly. We all know what Panarin is gonna do. even if he isn't 100 percent he produces pretty much every game. Kreider has produced zilch 5 on 5 for almost 20 games now. That is almost half this season. If he wakes up then sure but no one knows if he will

I'm with you...totally agree. I'll reiterate exactly what I told my brother yesterday when he started telling me he thought the Rangers still had a chance to make the playoffs.

With Rangers at 44 points having 15 games left, we would somehow need to go something along the lines of 10-5 the rest of the way to get to 64 points.

The Bruins with 48 points with 17 games left would need to somehow go something along the lines of no better than 7-10 the rest of the way and get no more than 62-63 points. With 6 of those 17 games like you say left with Buffalo including tonight plus 2 more games with Jersey, there is no way on gods green earth the Bruins aren't winning at least 4-5 of those games alone if not more.

So tho it seems on paper the Rangers have a chance....we don't! Let's be honest, last year's playoff run tho nice was a bit of a mirage and it made it seem as if the rebuild had accelerated itself.

This year there was a market correction and so we are right where we should be which is on the precipice of a what should be a decade long run of long playoff runs and hopefully a Cup or two along the way beginning next year.

Let's keep giving the kiddies as much as icetime as they can handle. Keep playing tough in these playoff atmosphere games and our "reign of terror" begins in earnest next year as the rebuild in my mind albeit a tinker here and there, is effectively over.

tough to know what to want
at +3 over .500, NYR are as close to a top ~8 pick (-3) than they are to catching Boston (+9) ...

i expect that if they get less than 6 points from Devs, it gets too unlikely
but with 8 of next 9 (in 14+ days) vs Devs/Buff/Phila, a run could lock them into top 20 and scoreboard watching into May

True that. Vs Carolina, Foxy, Kaapo, Shesty, Lindgren and I think Chytil (but not sure) got their feet wet.

Now, a bunch more. Kravtsov, Laf, k'Andre, Hayek, (am I missing someone?) Need to do so.

That 2nd go round for Foxy and the rest will do wonders and hopefully see marked improvement from THEM, which might bode well in NOT getting swept, and may even surprise some team. Gotta get in, and lots of winning TO the finish line would be a great start.

Heck, I'd welcome yet another PO series vs the Caps. They're always fun.
