These playoffs continue to set remarkable historical records.
Yesterday (April 25th) Jake Oettinger recorded a shutout for the Dallas Stars. Finally. This was the first shutout of the playoffs. The first one after no less than 33(!) games.

This isn't the longest streak though. Since the merger with the WHL two playoffs have gone further, the first one (1982) had a whopping 56(!) games streak, which finished on the penultimate gameday of the second round! The 1986 playoffs had a 34 games streak that also extended into the second round.

But we can say that this is the longest such streak in the 8-series, best-of-seven era!

The "leaderboard":
Season streak
1982 56
1986 34
2023 33
1998 25
2015 21
1985 21
1981 19
2010 18
1988 18

On ten occasions the shutout was recorded in the first game of the playoffs, most recently in 2017 and 2018.
Please note that the games are ordered by their finish time as reported by the NHL.
