Hunter did well, I think, (at least on paper) to address our needs with today's early round selections. Ask me in 2 years to assess this draft.
Currently, we have some skilled young prospects (e.g. Stranges, Evangelista, Panwar) who have excellent playmaking ability/potential, so Hunter goes out and selects a sniper, Rolofs, with our first pick. And, not only that but a first round pick with size.
Then in the 2nd round, he adds to our thinning blueline by taking a big d-man, Mailloux, who skates well, and has a cannon.
I'm anxious to hear more about our other 2nd rd pick out of Sudbury.

Yep. Rolofs and then Mailloux and Schmidt in the 2nd would have been unreal. Big scoring PF and two stud D, exactly what we needed.

There is a reason Pastujov and Hughes were taken in the 14th and 15th rounds respectively. They are not coming to the OHL.

My assessment of the draft is lots of missed opportunities, but very very solid 1st and 2nd picks in Rolofs and Mailloux! I am also excited to see what Gilmartin, Argentina Shepler and Montes bring to the table. I think its a decent draft I would give it a B

20 OHL teams all reporting they have had very solid drafts and are expecting great things from their rookies


As I posted at time of the pick, I liked the D man taken in rd 2. And by all accounts (even pre pick, he should have a spot next year)
As will the #1 pick. Both will be eased into action like this years group minus Stranges.
If the US kid doesnt report Ill guess they are the only 2 from this draft who stay up with the Knights.
