Playing his first season in Ontario after moving from his native Russia for a higher level of competition. Displays good athleticism, nifty stickhandler able to make quick, skilled plays in traffic. Protects the puck, exploiting a tall, lanky frame. Best weapon is a crisp wristshot and snapshot that he can unload in top gear. Textbook smart, yet prone to lapses in decision making. Can be Jekyll and hide at times, dominating one shift and reluctant to compete the next. Must continue to upgrade his battle intensity and overall focus. Projects as a high end offensive forward, one who can play a top six role while adding that rare ability to finish plays. With the Knights loosing Tim Bender and potentially Nikita Zadarov, Miromanov could slip into the Knights bottom 6 forward core and develop into a fairly valuable import, it’s just a matter if he will get that opportunity." -- Sean Lafortune, TheScout.ca Zach Grzelewski |1997|5'10"|197|L|2013|6|104|SIJHL|Thunder Bay|53|43|36|79|"A stocky forward with a heavy shot, Grzelewski is an opportunistic player as evident by his trio of goals to lead the Thunder Bay Kings. Things that Drake proved to me over the last year was that- He performed well in big games, makes unselfish smart decisions with the puck that would make his linemates happy to play with him, does not slack off in the D zone or the backcheck, explosive skating ability and needs to not get so wrapped up into the referee's decision's. There is a very positive fire in this player that others do not have... 200 foot player, strong puck support when exiting the zone for his Dmen, waits and lets the danger disappear before he pushes forward, unselfish, explosive skater, can play at speed, tough to cut a player with big desire and passion. He inspired me watching him play. Lays it all on the ice. His name tag was getting closer and closer to team-mates that were much taller than him in the last 2 years, I believe a knock on him was his size at one point, but that appeared to be changing from my perspective." -- mapleleaf979, The Fora

Assertive, take charge type. Light and dexterous with impressive agility, coordination, and first step quickness for his size. Transitions are seamless, aided by excellent athleticism and flexibility. Skilled with the puck, good rangy stickhandler, adept at joining the attack. Can serve multiple purposes on the powerplay, either acting as a puck mover or a trigger man, as he is never hesitant about getting pucks to the net. Can struggle with his decision making under an aggressive forecheck, throwing the puck into dangerous pockets of the ice. Refining his decision making should come with time. Not overly mean, continues to gain confidence in his physical play, must learn to exploit his size advantage. Should only improve as he adds muscle to and build up an expansive yet still wiry frame. Can be a smothering one-on-one defender, however gets impatient and will overpursue. Needs to develop his overall defensive structure. Projects out as a top pairing defender at the next level, one who has a high ceiling due to his combination of mobility, size, and puck skills. Has signed to the Knights after previously committing to Miami of Ohio, and is expected to be a key piece of the Knights re-tool given the amount of defenders that are graduating to higher levels next year." -- Matt Stewart, TheScout.ca Ben Gleason |1998|5'11"|160|L|2014|2|36|HPHL|Honeybaked U18|"Calm, cool defender who was playing with the Honeybaked U18 program as an underage player. Cousin of NHL defender Tim Gleason. A smart, positional based defender with high-end intelligence. Propelled by a stable, powerful stride that does miss some quickness and footwork. Relies on his sound positioning and on being responsible, focusing on sustaining tight gaps, exploiting his stick work, and not overplaying situations. High-end intelligence, reads the play, makes safe decisions, limits risk. Displays good instincts as a shooter, knows when to vary up delivery speed and angles. Not a suffocating defender, uses his stick effectively, but could inject a stronger physical edge. Adding more mass and strength to his frame will be a key moving forward. Not a poor skater, however adding more lower body strength should add more explosiveness and power to his skating stride. Projects as an honest, intelligent defender, one who could be a true stay at home style. With the graduation of defenders to the next level in London, expect him to step into the team and make a quick transition to the OHL style. Should be given all the opportunities to see regular minutes on one of the top teams in the province." -- Sean Lafortune, TheScout.ca Victor Mete |1998|5'9"|161|L|Acquired|for|6 Picks|GTHL|Jr Canadiens|"One of the most aggressive offensive defenceman at this level in some time. A high pace, high speed defender who is a constant offensive threat. Injects tempo into the transition game, quickly reaches top speed with a few short bursts. Flashy puck carrier driven by an explosive change of pace and impressive one-on-one elusiveness. Fluid and explosive in all directions, assertive and controlled in possession, elite lateral speed. Knows how to weave into open skating lanes and is almost unstoppable in open ice. Displays a flair for creating space for outlets. A pure powerplay quarterback, walks the line, head up, assessing and getting the puck into high potential scoring areas. Tough to beat in his own zone, rarely beaten wide due to his clean and efficient footwork. Plays a freewheeling style of play, one that allows him to constantly be on the attack. Not an engulfing one-on-one defender, can struggle when put in positions to win puck battles due to a lack of core strength. Adding more mass and strength to a somewhat small frame will be key moving forward. Projects as an elite offensive defender at the next level, one who could produce significant offense." -- Sean Lafortune, TheScout.ca Julius Bergman |1995|6'2"|193|R|2014|1|52|SHL|Frolunda U20|"An agile, lively skater who generates a sharp acceleration burst from a wide stride, he plays a safe, smart two way game. Not blessed with elite offense tools yet shows an ability to play a safe, secure offensive game. More of a puck manager versus a pure offensive defender, he manages the game intuitively from the back end. Showed substantial improvement in his defensive structure, no longer chasing pucks and getting pulled out of possession, will patiently await forwards to enter the zone before forcing him to the outside. Should play significant minutes for the Knights this year for a Knights team that has lost a significant amount of depth on the back-end." -- Sean Lafortune, TheScout.ca

EDIT: Three CORRECTIONS re- above.

#1: DeFarias is LH, not RH. OHL website originally listed DeFarias as RH by mistake.

#2: Under conditional (e) in draft picks section, omit the word "NOT". I originally interpreted the conditional pick backwards. That '17 6th turns into a '17 3rd if Mete IS drafted in Round 1 or 2 of 2016 NHL Draft.

#3: Under conditional (b) in draft picks section, omit the Saginaw 7th, AND colour the London 7th in Purple. London only keeps their 7th if Giugovaz is NOT a Knight on November 1st.

I will edit corrections in the next thread.

Mark Seidel tweets that he bets Mete gets traded to Ottawa, Missy or London this week.

I know Mete would love to go to Missy, it's close to home !
The thing is Missy already has a lot of young skilled
d-men, don't know where he would fit in. Also what would it cost to get him?

So in less than a week the Knights roster has gone from 92 to 40 to 33 players.

They're getting there...about 10 more cuts to go.

I don't think Mete wants to go anywhere but London, and I've heard it on more than one occasion. Perhaps a team could trade for him and woo him once he's there, but the "London only" comments swirling have been the only constant since the draft.

OK PhlyerPhanatic, who do you see as the 3 on the bubble, very interested to see what you think???? I was there on Monday and the one guy I think needs to be looked at is Mitch Brooks, as for the other two its hard

Mitch deserves a look...agreed, but he's a 19yr old and the Knights appear to have already thrown a card at 19yr old Soper, a move that has me shaking my head to say the least. The talent is thin and it's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one who saw that. To coin a phrase....you can only polish a turd for so long before you realize what you're polishing.

Of the roster provided, like I stated, I maybe see 2 or 3 bubble players. Brooks would be on my list of bubble players, but as I've alluded to...he's 19. Do you throw that card at a 19yr old FA when you can nurse a 16 or 17 yr old along in a rebuild year. I err on the side of caution and groom the youngster. You're not a contender..why throw bones.

The other bubble players I see are Anderson and Kreis.

While I believe both can play OHL hockey, I don't see them cracking this lineup as a regular. Does Kreis wait another year?...I doubt it. I think you see him moved to his brothers team if he doesn't crack the top 7 D men. Personally I'd take him ahead of Crawley, but I don't make those decisions.

Anderson is an interesting player. I see Josh's mirror image in more ways than one(he's a lefty, Josh is a righty). He actually showed better than a few returnees at camp..in particular Monday on a pared down roster. Elie and a few returnees should be quaking in their skates. Personally I move Elie to the Bulls and grab maybe a 7th or 8th rounder for him at best. Slot Anderson into his spot and you'll have a player that can grow into the roster, much like Josh did.

John Warren is a bone toss. Nothing more nothing less. Kid has all the heart in the world and I'm certain he's been told this every day as a player, he's just too small. He'll get the exxy games...maybe a few regular season games while the roster shakes out..but I see him back in Junior B.

That's my take....take it as you see it, I don't sugar coat things.

You are correct. I also believe this was the plan before camp -- to season him in Leamington.

I think Rymsha will be up with the Knights, and someone will get moved. Good call if so.

I agree that Rymsha will make the final roster and someone will be moved. He's better than a couple returnees, there's no reason to not ease him in and move an expendable for a mid to late rounder.

You already know my feelings about Warren, I wish the kid all the best and as stated before all the heart in the world but lacks the other demensions to make it here, to bad he didnt have EARLICHs game.
As for Anderson, the turning point I believe was the fight at the end when he popped off the visor of the guy he was fighting, he does remind me of his brother, of note I wonder if Josh had a word with him during the last flood, came out a different player in the third.
Soper, I am with you, why?????? Mitch woud have been a better chioce.
I think Rymsha will be up with the Knights agree with this also, he is the one to watch......

Again this is just an opinion ,
Peace to all

Yeah , the Ryshma bandwagon grows :)

I've felt since before camp they were looking at 15 Fs and 8-9 D with legit shots at cracking the team.

By all accounts I'd take Brooks over Soper. But as I've said before I'd rather the roster spot go to a youngin.

I agree with what you have to say about warren, he does not beat out 7 or 8 players that did not make Monday. To all you London HF board when Paxton tried out for London, I said and asked HE LOOKS GOOD does he have a chance, everyone said no and not a chance, guess what. I will take another shot Brooks, he will be here for 2 years has guts and skill. worked well with M.M. It is too bad Bryce did not make final on Monday has size and some ability which the hunters could refine. We have enough 5 Foot and 11 inch players and SMALLER.:

Paxton played a grand total of 36 games, had 1 goal + 1 assist, was a -7 and had a 100 PIM's. I hope your new guy can top those numbers.

I don't know duke but in the playoffs they were awesome the 4th line outplayed even the number one line. from what I know Paxton was the glue in the dressing room which they did not have last year when he was traded they needed that. mem cup? brooks might have might not need a character guy in dressing room. when he fights a player 8 inches taller that shows what I just said

I have heard a lot of people mention Elie as a player on the outs, or talk of possibly trading him to Belleville with his brother. Not sure if it means anything or may actually just be an error on the website, but clicking his name on the Londonknights.com roster page now leads to a broken link where it didn't before, something in the works or just a coincidence?? guess we'll find out.
