The Sens pushed White into the NHL last season. White hardly blew the doors of rookie or training camp but the Sens gave him the chance to develop in the NHL. Brown has accomplished more at a higher level of play than White had (AHL scoring). If he is close I hope they give him a shot rather than auto assigning him to Belleville.
White ended his 20 year old season playing in 21 games after New Years, put up 6 points in his final 12 games, after playing 2 in his 19 year old season plus a playoff game, and had his spot cemented in Ottawa the next year, whereas Brown had a 2 game cup of coffee in the NHL at 20, along with Abramov, Chlapik, Archibald and 3 or 4 D at the end of the year. White plays a 2 way, defensively responsible style the can shift to wing, that makes a much easier transition into a lineup, as he did. Brown is an offensive Center, who has never played wing in his life and has a total of 6 games under his belt, all of which were of the 6-7 minute variety.

The leading scorer in Whites AHL season was Chlapik with 32, White came 3rd with 27 with 5-13 less games played than everyone on the team.

7 guys from last years team had better ppg's than the top scorer in Belleville 2 years ago (including the top 2 on the team who were Brown's linemates at 1.03 and 0.90 compared to Brown's 0.75) in which they were a literal tire fire both on and off the ice. Last year saw a gigantic restructuring of our farm system.

I am of the belief that if Brown was going to be a Legit #1 more people would be talking about him and he would be too good for the AHL. I don't believe the hype until its warranted.

The guy standing beside Logan in this pic is his trainer, Jeff LoVechhio, and he was listed at 6'2 210lbs as a pro hockey player .

Brown is a freaking monster :dunno:

Didn’t White get “1” goal in all those games he played that first year - I’d hardly say that he cemented anything.

Either way, White coming off 1G in 19 games the Sens took a chance and let him start the season. That’s a pretty low bar. Brown should be ale to cover that. Offensively he looked OK two years ago and his game has developed since.

White had 2 goals and 4 assists in his transition season, all of which came in his final 12 games. Everyone knew he was starting the season in Ottawa.

White being on the team in 2018-19 was being talked about by everyone at the end of the 2018 season, the only surprise was that he was able to start on the top line due to the Tkachuk injury, which he ran with and cemented himself in the top 6.

His play dictated that, not his 2 goals.

White was told he never even had to attend development camp in 2018, but choose to.

Behind you, look out
Watching White in Belleville it was clear he was head above the rest of the team.
I had seen that from Batherson and Brown this past year.

I expect Formenton to start in Belleville then make his way up by the trade deadline.

Was anyone calling Binnington a #1 around this time last year? Was there hype around him? No, but he just won a damn Stanley Cup.

William Karlsson? If more people knew William Karlsson was a top 6 C, CBJ wouldn't have used him, 24th overall and 50th to get rid of Clarkson's deal. Was there hype there from VGK or anyone else around the league? No.

Sometimes all it takes is opportunity, and taking advantage of it. We'll know in the next 6 months for sure what we've got in Brown.

I could be wrong but it seems like some people have not seen brown play much?
He’s on track to excel in the nhl. Are there some question marks? Sure but show me the bus load of players that don’t have a couple weaknesses at that age.
He’s still young

We've repeatedly heard it takes a bit longer for the really tall / big guys to develop. We also know his father prohibited him from hitting the weight room growing up. This might get only his second summer hitting the gym. And he looks huge. I'm starting to think he's here all year unless he shows he cannot keep pace

He was in the gym in the summer of 2016. They mentioned it in one of the articles after we drafted him, and how earlier in his career his father wasn't allowing it. I'm not sure when exactly the restriction was lifted, but this would be at least his 4th summer hitting the gym, and clearly it's paying off because he looks massive.

On another note, I've seen a lot of people suggest he needs to play in the top 6 or bust, I really don't see that as the case. He's been a solid two way player his whole career, this kid isn't one dimensional. He may not play a grinding role or be a shut down specialist, but he won't hurt you on either side of the ice and could play on any of the 4 lines, though obviously we'd all prefer him to be in the top 6 so that we can take advantage of his offensive vision.

Well that's exciting
Brown is listed as 230 now in the rookie camp roster and the link JungleBeat posted above talks about how he changed his workout routine with his new trainer

Having not realized his goal of becoming a full-time NHL player, Brown did make a significant change to his summer workout routine.
While he has typically spent the bulk of his summers at the family cottage on Mississippi Lake, he instead stayed at his old home in St. Louis.
“I was with a lot of family and friends,” he said. “I also had a new trainer, a whole new system and I’m feeling great.”
He says he increased the intensity and duration of his workouts.
“I didn’t add any more days, I just added some new things,” he said. “I was two and a half hours in the gym, four to five days a week.
“I wanted to try something new, because in the past I’ve worked as hard as I can, but it just seemed like it wasn’t enough. I just wanted to try a different approach. I want to be in the NHL.”

Their relationship was "as smooth as oil and water"? That's not a good simile or a good metaphor... it makes no sense.
It’s an odd one to use but has a negative connotation.
“That’s huge. I know my first impression with the last coach (Boucher) wasn’t great and I think it might have affected the last couple of years.”

Doesn’t matter now though. Brown hit the gym and is looking like a tank. It will be interesting to see if his new strength transfers to more power in his strides.

Sure, say they got along like water and oil, but smooth as water and oil makes no sense. It's just not a saying. It's the smooth part that should never have gotten past his editor.

Another oddity from the Warren piece...

He also wants to put himself in the company of the Thomas Chabot, Brady Tkachuk, Colin White and Christian Jaros, alongside the kids that the organization has pledged to build around – and pay accordingly – in the quest to become a legitimate Stanley Cup contender in a few years.

On no other team would the bold need to be said... not sure if he's taking a jab at the org or what here.

Anyways, nice to hear Brown dedicated himself to improving this offseason, and that he's looking for a fresh start with the new coach. I think he has a legit chance to crack the roster out of camp this year.

6’6 230lbs and looks like a beast

Honestly if he becomes a 60-70 point player... that’s such a huge boost for the future... he’d have like 3-4 inches and 30lbs on almost every top six center in the league

Brown can be Barkov

I hope he starts to thrive once we Have solidified last place. Add in a top 4 pick, hope for SJ to underperform while trading all 3 second rounders for another first. Not sure where in the first round we would land with 3 seconds but worth a shot. At some point we’re going to have too many contracts
