A note to the mods, perhaps the thread title should be changed. The reports say that a deal is expected to be done today, not the lockout being over. The latter is obviously near if a deal is done, but probably won't happen until after ratification (from what has been said).

First i said i won't believe it till TSN says it, now i won't believe it till the boards crash
I'm not believing it until I see Halpern taking a face-off at center ice . . . . but until then I remain very hopeful (almost giddy).

How about not believing it until there are attributed NHL/NHLPA quotes? That has worked for me thus far.

Does this means we should forget about a press conference today?
I think if a deal is done today it will be announced today, however the big press conference to reintroduce the game (complete with rule changes and draft) won't be held until after ratification.

Until an official announcement this is still hearsay, as we've been hearing for
quite awhile now. My pants are still on.

Until there is a press release from either side announcing that an agreement in principle has been reached and a ratification vote has been scheduled for for "X", this is not done. Nothing is over until the lawyers say it is over and the ink is dry from Bettman and Goodenow's signatures. Hold the champagne for now.
