I am shocked he lived as long as he did. A few years ago I was visiting a musician friend in Nashville and at an industry function that Richard was at (it was not the kind of function where you walk around asking for autographs). He was in a wheelchair and looked like he could barely speak

Well the article does say he had bone cancer which is what killed him so being in a wheelchair is not surprising. One of the most painful forms of cancer.
