Babcock said the players will determine the lineup. He said the right players will be on the team just maybe not right away.

Major changes are coming. Watch by game 20. The good news is we have depth and we have assets. We're not winning anything this year. Leivo, Sosh and Kap will soon be in the NHL either with us or used to shore up the backend in a deal.
Saying it and actually following through with it are two different things.

I still can't get over how Babcock started with the JVR-Bozak-Marner line yet again last night. It's clear as day that line is obsolete. And I honestly think he's coming back with it next game too.

All the lines? No, Hyman-Matthews-Nylander is incredible and should be left alone to do their thing. They are amazing and should be allowed to continue being amazing. Blend the hell out of the middle two though.

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Marleau-Bozak-Brown
JVR-Kadri-Marner
Martin-Moore-Komarov

Marleau and Brown can cover Bozak's shortcomings, and Kadri can cover for JVR. Komarov goes down to the fourth where they can crash and bang for 7-10 minutes a night, plus he gets his PK minutes. Mostly Bozak needs all of the help he can get. I'd also be okay with a Bozak-Komarov pairing. Leo's been bad this year, but at least he can work on his defensive game and cover off for Bozak. Even if they just cancel out, I think it's an improvement.

After this road trip we might see more line combos depending on result.

Babcock against smaller softer teams like the Leafs he could sit Martin and Moore and replace them with Leivo and Kappy in the line-up.

They are showing patience but patience is wearing thin. The fast start to the season bought the floaters some time but time has all but run out. The next 5-8 games jobs are on the line and it's the underperforming vets who should be luggage shopping.

he won't do that. he loves the vets and all the intangibles they bring...

Martin-Bozak-Marner
Rielly-Hainsey
Gardiner-Carrick

If Marleau is going to play C, I would do the following:

Hyman - Matthews - Nylander
JVR - Marleau - Marner
Leivo - Kadri - Brown
Martin - Bozak - Komarov
Kapanen

Leivo - Matthews - Marner
Marleau - Nylander - Kapanen
JVR - Kadri - Brown
Komorov - Bozak - Hyman

Hell no to breaking up the Matthews line, especially adding Leivo. Just put Marner on the top line and load up if you really have to split them.

babs is messing up...a roster and lineup is built from your Cs first, and you go from there, they are your most important players

1C - no doubt its matthews
2C - kadri no questions asked, of course kadri is your 2nd best center right now
3C - imo willie is our 3rd best center right now, hes our 2nd most dangerous offensive player and fastest skater on team
4C - bozak still easily our 4th best center

start the lineup like this and fill it in from there

_____ - matthews - _____
_____ - kadri - _____
_____ - nylander - _____
_____ - bozak - _____

imo this gives us the best centers 1 through 4 in the nhl

Leivo on that line has looked magic every second that they've been able to play together.

When Matthews / Gardiner return:

Marleau - Matthews - Brown
Hyman - Nylander - Marner
JVR - Kadri - Komarov
Martin - Bozak - Kapanen

Reilly - Hainsey
Gardiner - Zaitsev
Borgman - Carrick

I know this probably wont happen but this is the line up I would like to see.

People seemed to like these lines vs MTL.

Martin-Matthews-Marner
Komarov-Kadri-Nylander
Hyman-Marleau-Brown
Van Riemsdyk-Bozak-Moore

These lines Babs went to last night may not be perfect, but I liked them better than our usual lineup.
