As for the backup goalie, it's the same scenario in at the PNC Arena in Raleigh. Not sure what other arenas have this, but it just seems...weird. Backup goalies are people too!

At MSG don't the back-ups have to sit in the hallway to the locker rooms?

My guess is that it's pure architectural mistakes, from architects who lack proper hockey knowledge and then the league fails to take in consideration of where the away team backup goalie will be seating...
