Didn't watch him much last season, but he didn't look washed up in the playoffs as far as skating ability and positional play. Is he too old to fill a 3rd line role in the NHL? Hands or shot gone? Oilers could use some locker room wisdom.
He'd still be a decent 4th liner imo. A good team would not have him on the 3rd line at this point.

Most Pens fans had run out of patience with Kunitz by the time his contract was up. However, a team could do worse if they're looking for a veteran player to play on their 4th line.

You don't pass on a 4 times SC winner... bad mistake by Tampa.

Think Tampa if they do go after another vet should go after someone who does not have a cup yet. They will be hungrier. Something Tampa’s mentality seriously needs.

Anyway , Kunitz was gassed by the playoffs. He kept going off for a line change while his line mates were still in the middle of a sequence. Was annoying. His line was very good but from little efforts or play contribution from him. This was a wise decision for Yzerman to move on and maybe bring up a younger guy from the system.

Sounds like he should coast through the regular season then just start playing once the trade deadline has passed. He's got quite a lot of miles on the clock when you consider the sort of game he plays.

Since it doesn't seem like age and declining play bother you, why don't they just sign Gretzky? Won 4 cups, best player of all time, free agent!

In all seriousness, I love Chris Kunitz, but he's a 4th liner at best now. The cups are nice and all, but that doesn't really translate to youth or scoring or good hockey.

He was actually pretty solid in the regular season, he put up the same amount of points and more goals on the 4th line this year then he did with Malkin as his primary linemate last year. Dude was done by playoffs though, his legs were gone.

His hands-are a distant memory. Everything else is working fine.

My money is on another return to Anaheim. This has Bob Murray written all over it.
Yup
Talk about speed, keep Carlyle, bring Kunitz back
Probably a two year deal too so we can bitch for two years instead of one:laugh:
