Happy about this. He was a lot of help during our push at the end of the season with his faceoffs and checking. Not sure how the roster will shake out, so nice to have some options.

Conacher also signed an identical deal.

Good stuff, I love Dumont's hustle, PK, defense and faceoffs.

Faceoff specialist, mainly. I like that we finally have one around, and he knows his role.

Good for both him and Conacher to get 1-way deals in their first year, so they'll get paid regardless of where they play. Glad Conacher didn't end up back in Europe.

Awesome to have both guys back. Guess they will start the season in SYR and are the first callups. Great way to make sure we have quality players ready and willing to battle whenever we need them.

Now bring in Marleu and Boyle and ship Brown out and our lineup would be awesome.

I hope we give Conacher a real shot next season. Our bottom 6 need more scoring and not just 6 grinders.

Yeah. Especially if Point does center the 3rd line. We can create scoring in the bottom six if we create the right lineups.

I like both of these guys on the NHL roster, really. Conacher as depth scoring, Dumont as an extra forward who comes in for energy/faceoffs and plays 6-8 minutes per night.

Anyone care to refresh my memory on the difference between the 1 way 2 way deals?

On a 1-way they get paid in full if they get sent to the minors. There's probably more, but I think that's the main point.

Players with two way deals don't usually have to clear waivers in order to be sent down. I think there are some exceptions but I don't know how they go.

One-way / Two-way deals have nothing to do with waiver eligibility. Its all about how much you get paid when you play in the NHL or AHL.. One-way deal you make the same whether you play in the NHL or AHL. A two-way deal means you make an NHL amount (say $750k) when you play in the NHL and a different amount when you play in the AHL (say $75k).

Well then I must've completely misunderstood something. Forget what I said.

Amen to that not sure why we need 6 grinders in the bottom six with the talent available. Line 3

Gourde. Point. Conacher
