Hurricanes rally again, erase 2-goal lead to beat Lightning in OT

“When you have to rely on everyone to have a good game, to kind of dig in and come back, it’s not ideal.” Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “It’s not how you want to draw it up. But the fact that … everyone’s contributing, they’re giving you what they can. So that’s good. It’s a good start for us.”

“We have a lot of believe in the locker room,” said Erik Haula, who scored on the power play to cut Tampa’s lead to one just past the game’s midway point.
“We know we’re good. We just gotta put it together. When we play well, we’re a good team.”

“He’s a strong man,” Slavin said of Staal pushing his way past Kucherov to create the chance.
“I’ve got to play against him all the time during practice. He manhandled that and,
obviously, made a great pass.”

Honestly I don’t think they’ve been that bad, especially Aho.

I don't think anybody has been bad, and I don't think we've had bad periods. Our mistakes have been isolated instances of individuals making poor decisions/plays that ended up in our net (Foegele/Necas vs. MTL, Edmundson at WSH and Necas/Aho vs. TB). There haven't been any "breakdowns" or "confusion in our own end." They are just physical mistakes.

You can see why Brindy isn't upset. There aren't any "issues" to clean up. Guys just have to be a little more careful with the puck in the d-zone -- and it wouldn't kill a goalie to make a big save. But our effort/systems/style has been on point for 195 minutes and a shootout.

And who am I to say, but... really there must be sarcasm or something somewhere there with the other posts because one thing (well not much negative at all) that's been said as Aho is lazy. He's been a work horse which got to him where he's at. He might now be something, don't know what, but if lazy is the answer, I'm lost for words really.

Aho has been good despite the lack of points. He's the kind of player who can have zero points but still looks like the best player on the ice.
I’d like to believe that, but after his finish last season I’d prefer him putting up some points early and put it all behind him. Also with the salary he has now he’s responsible for actual production, not just looking great out there. He has had a few real stinker shifts as well. Downside to getting him signed, even for “cheap” is that there are expectations now.

Anyone who thinks Aho is lazy is an idiot.

Do we not remember this, already?

2016-17: Aho first 13 games, 0g, 6a
2017-18: Aho first 15 games, 0g, 8a

He was better in 2018-19, but still only had four goals in his first 15 games.

The kid just puts too much pressure on himself to put up points and digs himself a bit of a hole.

To me the biggest thing coming into the season for Aho was just showing that he wasn’t still hobbled by whatever injury slowed him down so much in the playoffs. He’s definitely over that now, moving at normal speed and shifty as ever. Points will come soon enough. If we’re still talking about this a few games from now I’ll start to be concerned.

I remember. What did I say? I said I’d rather him not start slow so he can put last season behind him, and that with his contract he has more expectations now. I didn’t say I doubted him. He doesn’t look like he’s putting too much pressure on himself so far. Yes he did in the past.

He had a rough last month of the regular season and

What’s going to be interesting is seeing how the Canes adapt when teams start trying to take away that cross ice pass between svechnikov and Teravainen.,..and that TT to Haula pass. It’s going to happen, but we should have enough skill to adjust.
They’re working the triangles, they always exist on the pp. If you take one away another opens up if you’re working the passing lanes. It’s good when teams start overplaying lanes on you, and you’ve got a pp that isn’t dependent on one person.

Yes but I don't have to assure you that Aho is every bit of the same vein as Teuvo who after signing the extension said that now he needs to show that he's worth it.

At least in theory, that's when we should start to see Dougie and Gardiner really feast on shots in the high slot with a double-screen in front.
