Looked through the box scores of all the games and we did let up a bunch of goals at the end of all periods. I excluded empty net goals.

In the 19th minute
Opposition 9 Coyotes 4

I started noticing some in the 18th minute as well and decided to include those.

The 18th minute was worse

Opposition 12 Coyotes 5

We were a minus 12 for the last 2 minutes of periods. Would love to switch that around.

Can you do that for the last 3 years? Want validation for my pain.

Not any time soon.

Had to go through each box score. You can go to the Coyotes home page and click on schedule, select the season you want and then click on Recap. There will then be a box score tab. Goals are the first section. Slightly tedious. Easier to check 48 games as opposed to 82.

Needs to be an app for that.

are you excluding any possible PP/PK goals in the +/-?

Ok, I did it. I looked through 2011-2012's results. Now I excluded the last minute for periods 1 and 2 (and there were a lot of goals scored) and I expanded the scope to the last 2 minutes since a lot of goals were scored at 18:50:

Opponent Against For Date
Stars X 10/10/2011
Preds X 10/13/2011
Ducks X 10/23/2011

14 10

17% of all regular season games last year had a goal against scored within the last two minutes. The formatting doesn't show this but 10 games included last minute goals for us; usually empty netters. 23 total games included a last 2 minute goal of some kind (28%).

Ok, I did the first 2 years of the Dave Tippett, these are all the goals scored in the last 2 mins of each quarter.

1st Period: Coyotes 15 Opponents 16
PP-5 PPA-5

2nd Period: Coyotes 11 Opponents 19
PP-1 PPA-7

3rd Period: Coyotes 36 Opponents 27
PP-3 PPA-3
EN-16 ENA-19

Overall Total: Coyotes 62 Opponents 62
PP-9 PPA-15
EN-16 ENA-19

There were a lot more game winners or game tie'ers when reviewing the 1st two years, maybe some of that puck luck just wasn't with us this year.

^^^ But whats the league average, we need to put this stat into perspective. On the one hand in the waning minute of a game where a team is down a goal they are likely to pull the goalie resulting in an extra player on the ice, that has to bear weight on the statistics.

That is funny that both me and Sindiggy just dug through the numbers. Obviously Sin's digs deeper into the numbers. It appears the 2nd period is the bigger problem.
