Do the other coins use tons of energy?

Ethereum also consumes a lot, because of it's protocol. 'Proof of work', which, from what I gather, requires a ton of GPUs to confirm the transaction. But they're planning to change it to something else from what I gather that would require maybe Disk space instead of GPU power or something else less energy dependent.

A blockchain tweak could fix crypto’s colossal energy problem

Energy Consumption of Cryptocurrencies Beyond Bitcoin

Look at the last column of the table, vs. the market cap %, per $, Ethereum is worse than Bitcoin apparently. But that figure changes daily based on market cap.

My growth stocks are hit hard. Hopefully some green tomorrow

Or BTC mooning
Yep. Nuvei came out with awesome results and has basically been treading water. LSPD is down quite a bit and their earnings are next week. Thinking about doubling down on that one but it seems like macro forces are at play here. Everyone's worried about inflation.

Companies like Nuvei have used cheap / free money to grow via acquisition. Money was never going to stay this cheap, and tech (and utilities, and other industries that rely on cheap money) were always going to flatline without access to free money. These same companies are significantly over bought - Nuvei was hoping to raise something like 1B, they raised 2B (maybe 4, don't remember off top of head) and now have a market cap of 12B. This is my industry, I know a ton about this guys, have met the principals. GREAT company, but that valuation is insane.

Banks will be a net beneficiary of rising rates. I think and have called for tech to go on a slow melt. Feels to me like 2000 all over again.

Last note on some of these companies. It may feel like they are down significantly, but they really aren't. LSPD for instance is at its March 8th price, and is up 3.5x IY returns. I think new investors really don't understand what a true dip / correction is, 2% or 5% back on 350% up is not much of a correction. The WSB crowd is learning now that, as they buy the TSLA or PENN 'dip' only to see if move back day after day. PENN was a 17 dollar stock a year ago for instance, at 77 today it's still a 5 bagger 1Y and only down slightly YTD.

These companies could give back 20-30% more and still have healthy 1Y returns. Not investment advice, but some perspective.

These companies are making insane numbers though. I mean, Shopify is expensive but as big as they are they continue to double in sales. This isn't some crappy .com company we're talking about. The earnings are crazy and it's only going to accelerate. E-commerce is not going away.

Yes. Most of them are already down 30 points from their highs.

Yup, down 30% from ATH's but still up 3-5x from May 2020. The question becomes, what represents a dip on a company that is up 5x and has P/E's that make no sense. For Apple, or MSFT, a sale price would be 5-15% down. I'm struggling to understand what the future holds for companies like TSLA that don't make profit on their core product and have a 600 PE. Strange times.

Haven't followed them. I know they're mixed up with crypto as well complicating things.

As for a company like Shopify I mean... doubling every earnings is just crazy. To me, I can understand why it's nosebleed valuations. They aren't a small company. To have revenue growth like that is pretty mind boggling.

Yup Elon ripped it a new one on Twitter because of pollution. Says Tesla won't invest in it anymore or accept payment in bitcoin until the energy consumption goes down.

as he launched rockets into space every other week. The irony in this guy.

Elon really is a dick for that tweet, Im also sure he doesn't even believe what he's tweeting. He's probably just manipulating the market.

Not sure if sarcasm lol, but to be honest he's been better to most cryptos investors than bad. Can't blame him for saying out loud that Bitcoin is polluting a lot and acting upon it.

It's ironic. He's an odd fella to begin with. I just find it ironic as well that people are dumping on him, while he probably was the one who made a good chunk of them rich via Tesla, Bitcoin or Doge.
Im not sure hes just being odd. Probably some kind of ulterior motive or something.
