I want to see your teams best all-rookie squad, so we can all discuss who has the best in the NHL. As a Leafs fan, obviously I don't speak for all of us, but IMO this is the best we could ice.

Teams can only include players who haven't yet played in the NHL or only played this past season. Exceptions can be made for players who have been in the system for a while and have been up and down between the AHL/NHL.

Toronto Maple Leafs:

Greg McKegg - Nazem Kadri - Matt Frattin
Jerry D'Amigo - Joe Colborne - Sondre Olden
Brad Ross - Josh Nicholls - Kenny Ryan
Jamie Devane - Andrew Crescenzi - Tyler Brenner

Keith Aulie - Jake Gardiner
Jesse Blacker - Simon Gysbers
Petter Granberg - Korbinian Holzer

James Reimer
Ben Scrivens

I think Edmonton, NYI and Nashville will have some pretty solid squads.

You could have included a Hall, Eberle, MPS first line, considering I included Kadri, Aulie and Reimer. Although, pretty impressive line up without them.

I'm just using players considered prospects on HF, although it wouldn't be too different for the Kings... it would just include Clifford and Lewis.

Brandon Kozun - Brayden Schenn - Tyler Toffoli
Maxim Kitsyn - Andrei Loktionov - Jordan Weal
Bud Holloway - Justin Azevedo - Linden Vey
Richard Clune - Jordan Nolan - Dwight King

Derek Forbort - Alec Martinez
Nicolas Deslauriers - Thomas Hickey
Jake Muzzin - Slava Voynov

Good group of D, ok in net, and a few bright spots up front... but the forwards are as a group, not much to look at offensively. Bolded are the guys who finished the year on the big club and likely won't be going back in the minors.

I started making one for the Flyers but now I cannot stop crying.

Ah well, plenty of talent on the big club!

Just for fun here is a Kings one, they have become kind of a surrogate team since I spend so much time around them:

Right now we have a few top end talent in Hishon and Olver, but tons of character grinders in Malone, Mercier, Walker, and Carmen. Also include Larsson, Landeskog or Huberdeau. And #11 also. Going to look very solid.

Jason Zucker - Mikael Granlund - Mikko Lehtonen
Colton Gillies - Casey Wellman - Brett Bulmer
Johan Larsson - Erik Haula - Jere Sallinen
Kristopher Foucault - Joel Broda - Carson McMillan

Tyler Cuma - Marco Scandella
Maxim Noreau - Jared Spurgeon
Justin Falk - Nate Prosser

Matt Hackett
Darcy Kuemper
(Johan Gustafsson)

There are some pretty decent prospects in Wild system, led by Granlund. Mikko Lehtonen is sort of wildcard player with big ceiling. Kuemper will probably not sign with Wild, so he re-enters the draft. Johan Gustafsson will be the only backup goalie option before the draft, where they'll surely pick a goalie in later rounds.

I hope that in first round (10th overall pick) of the draft Wild will select Nathan Beaulieu, but Joel Armia is also a good option for the Wild.

Will be full time NHL players next year (bold) or at worst call ups.

No 1st line potential in forwards, Butler and Silfverberg have 2nd max, and that's asking a lot. Defence is key, 2 have chances at be a 1a and 1b defence pairing, while Weircioch can be a good number 3 and Gryba a solid 5-6. Lehner also has a chance to be a number 1 goalie, but not any time soon. Should be looked at after this draft as we have 5 picks in the first 2 rounds, with a top 10 pick and number 21 pick.

bolded those in the mix for full time roster spots next season. Skinner and the two dmen are no-brainers. And it sounds like Dalpe and at least one other forward will be NHL regulars next season.

Eric Tangradi - Joe Vitale - Beau Bennett
Tom Kuhnhackl - Brians Gibbons - Nick Johnson
Paul Thompson - Keven Veilleux - Nick Petersen
Ken Agostino - Zach Sill - Bryan Rust

Didn't include Dustin Jeffrey as he's played 40 NHL games now.

A solid yet unspectacular group up front with a few guys who will probably be contributing sooner rather than later.
Vitale will fight for a 4th line role at camp and Tangradi along with Johnson will be fighting for a spot in the top 9. Bennett will return to Denver to play a bigger role after a solid freshman year. Kuhnhackl will have a big role on Windsor and had a great first season after a slow start. Veilleux needs to stay healthy and should see top 6 minutes in the AHL. Gibbons and Thompson are college standouts who will be in their first pro seasons and should see good minutes in the AHL. Petersen lit up the ECHL and put together some pretty decent numbers in the later half of the year in WBS after being sent down to the ECHL at the beginning of the season. Agostino put up good numbers in his freshman year at Yale and will be back looking to improve on his numbers and his skills. Rust had a solid first year at Notre Dame and will be hoping to play a larger role next year. Sill recently got signed by the Pens after showing a big improvement in his second pro season, he needs some more seasoning in the minors but may one day make it to the NHL in a 4th line role.

Brian Strait - Robert Bortuzzo
Simon Despres - Phillip Samuelsson
Nick D'Agostino - Carl Sneep

Pens lack a bit of offensive firepower in their defensive prospects but have some pretty good two-way and defensive guys. Strait and Bortuzzo were one of the AHL's best pairings and were a combined + 50 on the season. Strait saw 3 games with the big boys but Bortuzzo's probably the more intriguing prospect with some offensive upside and more grit to his game. Despres is the standout from the defensive group and will start his pro career next season hopefully after leading his team to the Memorial Cup. He should log top 4 ice time plus time on both special teams next year in the AHL. Samuelsson surprised many by turning pro this summer after two solid years at Boston College, he's a defensive guy with a decent first pass and has some of the nastiness that his father had. He'll probably start out on the bottom pairing in the AHL and work his way up. Sneep will be back for his 2nd year in WBS and will be hoping for a more expanded role. The Pens will be hoping he can find some of the offence he showed in his senior year at BC. Nick D'Agostino will go back for his 3rd year at Cornell (I expect he'll play all 4 years) and will be relied on as a minute muncher as well as to provide offence from the back-end.

Brad Thiessen
Patrick Killeen

Thiessen had a great season on the Regular Season Champion Baby Penguins and won the Baz Bastion Award for the league's best goalie (He'll hope to be the next Ryan Miller rather than the next Danny Sabourin). With Brent Johnson signed for next season Thiessen will hope to challenge for an NHL back up spot in the 2012-13 season. Killeen had a solid regular season in Wheeling but lost his spot before the ECHL playoffs, he'll probably be back in Wheeling next year or might be Thiessen's back up in the AHL.

Good mixture in the forwards of potential top 6 players: Ashton, Panik, Connolly and Killorn with bottom 6 forwards: Wright, Tyrell, Ritola. Lacking depth at LW and less so at C. Right wing is loaded with our top 3 prospects all being RW, Connolly, Ashton and Panik.

On D, mostly puckmovers, no real high potential there and the only one with any considerable grit is Gudas.

Loaded in goal with Tik, Janus, Desjardins, Nagle and Koshechkin.

I didn't know if I was allowed to add Repik, Dadonov, McArdle or Ellerby, so I left them out. Dadonov only played 4 games last year, Repik has played like two season with 5-8 games each. Ellerby has also had some call-ups last season.

Here is the all-rookie team from the Canadiens based on potential to be impactful NHL players as I see it.

Delmas?

*1: Can play both wings, still very raw but great potential.
*2: A center but can play all forward positions.
*3: Originally a right wing. Quite talented but has injury problems, hence the low rating.

As I see it, we've got good depth at center, at right wing and at defense, but we're atrocious in goal and are also a little thin on talent at left wing. We also have a lack of top-end offensive talent at forward. I'd say we're pretty average once all is said and done.
