he skates hard? he needs to be out of the lineup.... on another note.. you bring up freddy for a couple games and let him play 3c.. and you put coyle with krejci.. you HAVE to see if that works. coyle has been a possession monster and i think that will work really well with krejci's playstyle..

I'd like to see them recall Frederic and play him on LW. Much like Kuraly's shift to LW, it could help expand his offensive opportunities with less defensive responsibility. Long-term he's obviously a full-time C but for right now he can't be any worse than the likes of Stempniak, Nordstrom, Backes or Cehlarik.

Agreed. There is literally nothing that Nords does that can't be done by another player. Literally nothing.

I like the idea of plugging Coyle up, given he's saddled right now with 2 useless stiffs on the third line.

Ugh. Okay, let's back this up. What does Nordstrom do that you like? Again, not about points. Just what does he do that makes him irreplaceable in your eyes?

I would not use the word irreplaceable, if team is healthy it comes down to him or backes sitting . He is very responsible in his own end ,he can skate ,he kills penalties well. He is 100x more useful than stempniak . He is also currently ahead of all the providence call ups.

He doesn't hurt you at all he just doesn't add any offense to speak of. He also has one of the best sticks on the team .

But doesn't a forward who plays almost every game and averages almost 14 mins a game but like you said provides practically zero offense hurt the team? If he was a center I could probably live with it because how valuable centers are in every facet of defending (similar to how I can tolerate Acciari as a center) but for a winger to provide zero offense when he's a regular in the line-up and gets regular minutes is without a doubt hurting the team.

This is exactly right. His lack of offensive production in any meaningful way does have a negative impact.

Agree. Its a good time to put Coyle in a different role.

The lines are correct tonight. Make the 4th the third and have someone center Backes and Nordstrom as the 4th. Only issue is that Kuraly is not 100% or close to it. But his linemates are playing well and that line getting more minutes is definitely in order. A good game from Kuraly would be huge.

I just haven't seen any better current options . The fact our fourth line has improved by leaps and bounds it isn't the worst thing in the world to have him on your third line .

Well options are limited I agree.

However, I don't see what the Kuraly playing well has to do with the effectiveness or value of Nordstrom as a hockey player.

I’d rather see Wagner on the 3rd line over Backes and go with Nordstrom on the 4th. Wagner can score and he’s faster and more physical than Backes.

So Carey gets called up. Does this mean the Stemp era is officially over (again)?
I hope so. Nothing against the guy personally but his time as an effective everyday NHLer are done. I guess if we get hit even harder with injuries he's a guy. But I'm looking at having 6-7 of our regulars out before Lee should be the guy getting the call.
