I love how every Quebec-born player feels then need to tell their agent to keep us in the race until the very end. It reflects well on them in the media. Even at 4 or 5 years I'd take him at that salary over Biere at 1 year

Hearing 2 years 8mil with the Habs..

I've hated him for years but he does have 109pts in 108 playoff games.
And he's two years removed from a 78 point season.

Not much risk in a 2 year deal, if anything he can be moved next offseason.

Hate to sound like a broken record but he is not the biggest or strongest UFA on the market.
Maybe this signals a potential trade involving Gionta or DD?

No it's not. He's 33. Briere is 36. At the end, it's the same except that in 5 years from now, the salary cap will be higher.

Then again, its kind of like picking which cancer you'd rather be afflicted with. In either case, I'd rather have neither.
