Sounds like Andy was back to his good old self, and Sparks is a garbage-tier goalie (which we all knew before this game started... how did the Leafs pick this guy over the other goalies they waived and lost?!?)

Haven't had a chance to watch many games lately - life is crazy right now, just no time for it unfortunately.

Glad to see Duclair earning his spot in next year's lineup.

I really dont think Sparks was all that bad, the first goal was such hard shot no one even knew it went in. The second one was a terrible d zone breakdown and a shot through a screen (granted he probably should have froze it before it was put out front). The third goal was a great shot with 4 players in between the goalie and the shooter. It was pretty funny to watch the leafs fans blame everyone but the players playing for the team (outside of Sparks). I find it shocking they are blaming the refs. The Tkachuk penalty that got them back into the game was simply him being stronger than Dermott. The sens got a penalty for shooting the puck over the glass when it hit the top of the glass.... I thought the rule was if it hits the glass its not a penalty. Anyways both of Johnsons penalties were right in front of me both were penalties, one was a cross check to the face the other was a hit from behind.

The sens had an ok game, terrible puck management in their zone lots of turnovers, the leafs were gifted many chances. I just dont see that team winning anything anytime soon, Anderson played well but they didnt get any traffic in front and there wasnt many second chances because honestly they dont go to the net. Very perimiter. Anderson made a couple big saves but most of the time when he can see it he can stop it and he did.

Duclair looked like black Pavel Bure last night, his motor was great and he was all over the puck winning battles and what a rocket of a shot he has. Id like to see him with Tkachuk and White. They threw him up there a few times, he drew a penalty once and they had zone time every time he played with them. If he can play a consistent game he might be a great piece moving forward.

Leaf fans that go to CTC aren't the typical Toronto fans. I've been to many Blue Jays, Raptors, and Leaf games in Toronto, and the fans are normal people. [MOD] One drunk started heckling me about Melnyk in the bathroom. He looked shocked when I said that I hate Melnyk, hope he sells the team. As if a Sens fan like myself would get upset about him trash talking Melnyk and I would defend him! I could still hear the loser chirping as I walked out of the bathroom. [MOD]

If I go to another sens leafs game in Ottawa I will be documenting all the special leaf fans I see in the building via a planet earth style documentary. So many beligerent drunks, terrible outfits/obnoxious people with such little class. Giving Sparks the gears every time he made a save, not much positive reinforcement or loyalty to support their players. I think it could be funny.

With that being said, of course not all of them are the same, many were very fun and classy but unfortunately the majority last night didnt fall into this category.

I was sitting next to a leaf fan from Toronto and he was pretty laid back about the game. Was just there with his wife taking in a hockey game. I think they got a kick out of it when I joined in on the "sell your team" chant. I found most in my section pretty good except for the large man in the fake Polak jersey.

In my section it was the same everyone was fun to be around for the most part, however I was sitting in Club Bell might be a different style of LEaf fan sitting there [MOD].

They might have better success if they tried being defensive on the ice instead.

Colin White now at 39 pts... He should hit 40 for the year. 1 away from 15 goals. I'd like to see him get another goal before its all over for this year.

He is not getting the respect he deserves: he is right up there with Tkachuk in terms of offensive production.

He isn't quite as flashy which likely explains it: White is low-profile great. I am expecting him to break out next year, just as long as we can find him wingers he develops chemistry with. Right now, he doesn't seem to be "gelling" with anyone exceptionally well.

I second everything in Bert's post above. Saves me the trouble of articulating my own observations, which are essentially identical.

Pretty much this. Regarding the Delay of Game penalty, the puck hit the glass on the back of the penalty box and not the perimeter glass. So that was the right call. Overall I thought the refs messed up a couple times each side. Far from a valid excuse for Leafs losing to a basement team at this time of year. It's embarrassing and I love it!

We gots a name for them thar peoples...

But in all seriousness, I have never seen that much of an embarrassment on HNIC. Seeing them freak out and give the finger to the players after they score a goal.

Wow! Shame on those idiots who make the entire leafs nation look like a bunch of dimwitted bumpkins.

I loved it so much. I was such an asshole to the Leafs fans on the way out. Just a total piece of trash. They definitely did not feel welcome.

Good post. I would also like to see Duclair play with two defensively responsible players like Tkachuk & White & they could really use a goal scorer on their line. That would leave Batherson to play with Brown & they are playing great together in Belleville along with Paul. They should keep that line together next yr in Ott. Then there is Formenton, Chlapik & Ryan that could make for an interesting line.

I've said it all yr the Leafs are soft & without Matt Martin they are a perimeter team, lots of skill & speed but what good is that when they are too afraid to go to the net. This is what Ott has to be aware of, getting too many skilled players who won't go to the net. I much prefer to see Tkachuk & Formenton type wingers who are big & are not afraid to mix it up & can pick up a lot of garbage goals around the front of the net. There are a lot of nice Leaf fans & then there are the ones that show up at our building.

He is not getting the respect he deserves: he is right up there with Tkachuk in terms of offensive production.

I disagree with White not gelling with anyone, he was having a great season with Stone & Tkachuk & I think he jells well with Tkachuk. But they could use a goal scorer like Duclair on their line & he needs two defensively responsible players with him like White & Tkachuk. Hopefully all three continue to progress for next season.

We often here "wait until Tkachuk is 220 lbs, well the same can be said for Formenton if he puts on 25 or 30 lbs over the next few yrs he will also be a force to be reckon with. And Paul is already a big guy who can separate players from the puck & is having a very good yr with Brown & Batherson including scoring. Ott has the makings of at least three very good big & tough lines that should be very hard to play against & that can put up pts.

I stopped going to Leaf games in Ottawa about 10 years ago. It was fun when I was in my 20's to go and get in on the stupidness, but as I got older, it just wasn't worth it.

The great majority of people that go to these games aren't there to watch and cheer for their hockey team, they are more interested in trying to get a rise out of the Sens fans there and to start fights.

I've been to plenty of events in Toronto and it's night and day, the crowd in Ottawa is the backward hick segment of the Toronto fan base. They can have their fun in our barn, it's basically become a right of passage for them.

Pretty much. To be reasonably fair about it, a significant part of the Sens fanbase that goes to those games also enjoys reveling in the douchebaggery and getting into loud shouting matches and fights.

I guess some sure, but the crowd is 80% Leaf fans. Kind of hard to gripe about the Sens fans in this case.

Montreal usually outnumbers Sens fans too, but we don't seem to see the same problems there. It's specifically a problem with Leaf games in Ottawa.

Tkachuk has a large frame so adding 20lbs won’t be all that difficult for him. It’ll be natural for him over a few summers of training and once he’s fully grown he’ll settle in around 210lbs.
The same can’t be said for Fromenton. He has a slight build, but his game more revolves around speed. He can still be a force in this league (a different kind of force then Tkachuk) but expecting Formenton to add 25lbs and to start punishing the opposition isn’t realistic.

If we want the Leaf and hab fans to disappear forever we need an owner that can deliver the silver here ....And bring stability to this franchise, not another excuse maker or fake billionaire....

Not sure I agree with this. Tkachuk's offensive IQ is miles ahead of Formenton's. Also, Formenton's biggest asset is his speed. I don't want to see him add 25-30lbs. I see Formenton topping out as a middle-6 speedy defensive specialist (like Hagelin). Tkachuk tops out as one of the best LW in the league.
