Considering the NHL will likely get some kind of cap in place, does anyone think it might be an interesting concession to the players to allow for league bonuses for the big awards (maybe even for the runners up)? This would be a form of revenue sharing that would allow a potential superstart like Crosby, who could eventually start controlling the league, to separate himself from the pack in terms of compensation. Moreover, Crosby getting a million each for the Richard, the Art Ross etc. could help to garner some attention down south. Not to mention the media attention it might get if guys like Crosby and Kovalchuck were battling over the scoring race with a million dollars at stake.
Just an idea.
