League officials have completed an investigation of a communications problem relating to a trade submitted between Phildelphia and Montreal at the deadline. Fax transcripts have been reviewed from each team, and it has been determined that both transmissions were sent correctly, and in time to qualify under the deadline; a receiver problem at the League Office made it appear that only one confirmation was sent.

In consultation with both teams, and with the HFNHL Players' Association, the league confirms the following player transaction:

    To MTL:
    BUF 2nd 2006
    PHI 2nd 2006
    PHI 1st 2007
    Prospect F Steve Gainey

    To PHI:
    RW Miroslav Satan

(NOTE TO FLA: Unfortunately this could not be extended to your follow-up deal with Claudio, Brock, as confirms were not sent by both teams prior to the deadline. Our apologies for the trouble.)

Or... not. It turns out that after the two confirmations were compared, they did not in fact match! All that anxiety for nothing: Satan remains a Montreal Canadien.

Wow, I'm wondering whether Claudio's scouts were ready to quit if that deal went through. To travel around to small town rinks 5 nights a week when you team has nary a draft pick for two years, well, tough to get motivated...

That was the goal!!! I was looking to reduce costs as much as possible. :)

PS Watching the Montreal/Toronto back to back games this past week was like watching a beautiful film...of course Tucker almost turned it into a horror film with his goon, cheap shot, biatch attempted elbow....Love how Kovalev gave it back to him though, loved it!!!
