Here is my idea...
Imagine an NHL with 20 teams, where at the beggining of each season all the GMs do a draft of ALL players, and for THAT year alone. The following year, there's another draft.
The idea is that the long-term upside doesn't matter, as you will only retain this player for the 2004-2005 season (so think twice before picking Cam Barker in the first round).
Players that have announced retirement I.E. Oates and Larionov are not eligible.
Players that might retire but have not announced yet I.E. Hull, Chelios are eligible.

HERE ARE THE 20 TEAMS: (sorry if I cut your favorite team)

How will scoring be done?

There will be no scoring, but at the end I would like everyone to submit their full team with line combinations and defensive pairings. I will give this info to a buddy of mine to review without bias.
He knows every stat about every player from the top of his head and to say that he is a "religious hockey fanatic" would be a huge understatement. He will rate the teams... and not based on skill alone.
You also need grit, leadership, enforcement, and a good mix of age groups. You will also need to select a captain and 2 alternates.

Hope you this time really take part in draft (see prospects draft)

If it's ok with everyone, I would like to instate a hard 12hr time limit. A lot of these drafts are waaaaayy too long.
I'm taking suggestions for what should be done if a GM is taking too long.
I'd like someone to objectively decide the pick, possibly make it up to more than one person.
My suggestion: When 12 hrs are up, I post names of 3 BPA, taking into account this team's needs, and any one of the other GMs can reply with a pick of one of the 3. As soon as that is done, the pick is official! Confused?

P.S. - Salary Cap is not an issue in this draft.

Im really confused, since my english is not that good. My proposal is that when GM X does not make the pick within 12 hours, it will be GM Y:s turn and X will make the pick when he/she is online, X:s pick will be 1st overall and Y:s 2nd.

the big problem I see with this is if a GM wants one or more of those 3 BPA then they'll vote for the one they have NO interest in...

I say we one do two things if you miss your pick cuz of the 12 time limit
1. that GM does not get a pick there - onto the next GM and at the end of the draft we have a mini draft with the left-over players being picked
2. we move onto the next team - the GM that mised hes/her pick will have to PM rupispupis 5 players (in order 1 to 5) and at the end of the round rupispupis will add the player to the missed pick

Confused? does this make any sense???

OK, here it is.
If the 12 hrs are up, we move on to the next pick.
Whenever the tardy GM arrives, he can PM me with his selection.
If, by the time he PMs me, the guy he wanted has been selected by another team, than too bad for the tardy GM, and he has to make a different selection.
If he fails to do this by THE END of THAT round, I will objectively make the selection for him. :teach:

I like that, what if GM is on a trip or vacation lets say for a week. For example there is two teams before him. Is it possible to PM you with te pick he wants and an alternative pick if hes guy is picked?

Or have each GM PM you with a list of 40-50 players and if they don't pick in 12 hours, the top player is chosen from that list. This of course will be optional if you know you won't be here for a while.
