Why do we always sit back on leads in the 3rd?

Matthews is the best goal scorer in the league.

We still bleed goals like noone's business.

Did Connor Brown play?

Saturday will be must watch TV.

Take the points and move onto the next one.

Difficult third. Overcame some BS. But got it done in the end. Kind of fitting that a totally ridiculous empty net goal sealed it. The skill up front is incredible and had a firm hold of the game for most of the night. Just keep working on getting better.

Well, we won, but that 3rd period left a sour taste in my mouth. We played really well over the first 2 periods, but got completely dominated in the 3rd.

Well that’s what happens when you are leading a game. Most teams get complacent and the Leafs are no different. Also, it’s the beginning of the season and their 4th game in 6 nights.

Wish we could keep pushing the pace against when we are leading but shit happens.

I’ll take the W and move on.

Leafs are gonna lose many games in this season in 3rd. They're can't defend when they're fresh and when they're even a bit tired it's nightmare.

Tavares is great player, but man his D-zone awareness is poor.. He's even worde than Bozak in that department.

Leafs players need to submit Matthews style viagraman grin pics to the NHL. Grins for all the stats watchers and writers to get triggered over.

We're all awesome now!

Good teams find ways to win .We are experiencing that. Remember when the Leafs would play very well in games and lose?

Why knock Nylander? He will make us better. Let's save it for if he was to ever come out and state he wants out. Right now he's a Leaf.

He should have already been traded for about a month now but he can still enjoy turkey and chicken in Sweden when NHL players are grinding. Just trade this bum already and get a top 4 young D.

I wish Wilson was playing on Saturday. I hope Ovechkin or one of those other meatheads knocks some sense into these guys.

So 8 out of a possible 10 pts to the start the season.

I don't care how ugly the individual games where (or parts of those games). All I see are 8 pts in the standings :D

Poor Zaitsev that game. Got absolutely smashed on analytics but I cant see much he did wrong during the game. Seemed to be continuous highlights of him doing the right thing while Gards or the forwards left men open or made gaffes.

I feel for ya Zaits.

Not really.

It’s becoming more apparent this team is not good enough. Matthews will not score 2 goals every night and the defensive flaws are the same as last season. Maybe worse.

True. Marincin is up so that says enough right there. Next year should be better with Liljegren and Sandin, if he's ready. As for this year, seems like so far they have to outscore their defensive woes which is not the best strategy. Leafs still won though, so it feels good.

We also happen to have a blue chip asset to trade for a substantial upgrade on the blueline.
