A leafs proposal where they dump Zaitsev and get value in return? Boy it’s been about 20minutes since one of those!

Kapanen: 18g/36pts >> Greenway 9g/17pts

they arent equal

hell no to this deal. unloading zaitsev sounds great, but not at the cost of moving Kadri and Kapanen for Spurgeon, 20 games of Staal and a 4th liner with size

You guys love talking about age so much. What were kaps stats last year when he was the same age greenway is now?

He is also on a line with Mathews... I would expect better stats honestly

Greenway is much better than you give him credit. He has a ton of potential.

LAWL

dude is -72 the last 4 years. one of the worst dmen away from the puck in the league.
Kadri coming off back to back 30+g season on a sweetheart contract is worth way more than 100 games of your 5'9 OFD

Cute attempt at downplaying one of the best offensive dmen in the league lol. Funny you spout kadris offensive numbers when Barrie had more points than him last year in 12 less games as a dman and is going to finish with more than him again this year LAWL. While on the inferior team playing against the opponent's scoring lines. Give your head a shake. Dmen like Barrie return more than 55 pt centermen nearing their 30s. By the way Kadri has barely been even the last two years in +/- on a pretty damn good team.. he was also well into the minus years prior, Good try though.

Their fan base have enough to choose from.
And every week another guy pops up and makes the same proposal without reading first other threads.

What about Brown, Sacco and Zaitsev for Spurgeon and a 2nd?

Toronto looses its centre ice cache so as to offload a Zaitsev contract - there are better ways to do this.

Thats rediculous. Kapanen could be traded straight up for Sturgeon...hes that good. And Kadri better than greenway by a country mile and so is kapanen. Wild fans can stay out of a playoff race with their putrid offence all they want.
It would be done by now if he could be

No wouldn’t touch it, Spurdeon isn’t the type of guy we need, Kadri and Kapanen are too important to give up, If We trade Kadri it’s gotta be for a shut down dman, and if Staal wants to be a leaf he can sign in the off season

I am a Leaf fan and Spurgeon is exactly what this team needs.

TO MIN: Kadri + Kapanen(RFA) + Zaitsev

TO TOR: Spurgeon + Staal(UFA) + Greenway

The Wild take on an anchor of a cap dump and trade you one of their top prospects.

Why, out of curiosity, would they possibly do this? You think adding Kadri and Kapanen is worth that much to them? Subbing in Kadri for Staal is a wash for this year, and Spurgeon for Kapanen is a loss for Minnesota so now they are giving up one of their best prospects for a total net loss in Zaitsev.

In order for this not to be a horrendous deal for Minnesota Kadri needs to a be a huge difference maker down the road, and even still, the Wild are saddled with Zaitsev for several more years in order to do that.

I don't see Minnesota being dumb enough to do this.

Sturgeon, Sturdeon? I keep seeing these opinions from leafs fans and they can't even get a players name right lol. Speaks volumes about a leaf fans player evaluation. Kapanen hasn't proven anything other than he can skate fast and play decently offensive on a line with Auston Matthews. But apparently that should return you a dman that has higher point totals than he ever has. Okay.

I don't think its crazy that Leafs fans might want to hold onto Kapanen. There's still a bit of uncertainty with the future of their RW position (Nylander trade, Marner re-signing) and if they think they have a guy that has good chemistry with their star center, that they can play in a top 6 role and have him produce relatively cheaply, then more power to them.

Hard to even comment on this thread since neither teams really are addressing any sort of need.

How on earth is Toronto not addressing a need? They are addressing their two biggest needs, they are adding a top four blueliner that hugely upgrades their D-core and they are adding a big, bruising forwards that addresses their paper soft lineup.

Not a pure camp dump though - teams are still interested in his services. An asset may be required, but not a blue chip like Sandin

You'll be SO disapointed when it'll happen.

No chance at all Zaitsev leaves w/out a significant asset movijg back or w/out the Leafs getting back another horrible contract
