Going to be an ugly one I think.

NHL Game Page

Haven't seen a roster but Keefe promised it wouldn't be pretty.

Edit - here it is and it isn't

Roster is in the training camp thread. I actually just said the same thing myself over there, that this could be ugly. Home game for Ottawa, thinking they’ll have a pretty decent roster

Here is the tweet for tonight's suspects.

About 10 of those players listed here for tonight's game will be on Leafs NHL roster this year.

Be interesting to see who performs on their own abilities, and not carried by better players.

Yes, home team usually dresses the stronger group. I guess it'll make it easier to watch the Jays.

Interesting to see Kerfoot included , maybe just wanted an extra 'vet' center?

That's one ugly line up. It's unfortunate not many prospects for 2017 or 2018 draft class fighting for a spot
By now we should have seen some draft picks making some noise

2017 - Iily and that's it. Rest are wash
2018 - Sandin and rest are wash. Maybe SDA in few years, he still looks underwelmed

Sens also dressing 10 players that should make the team, maybe 11.

Hopefully the Leafs roll three D-pairs all night if they're setting up this way. Need to give all of Sandin/Dermott/Liljegren at least 20 minutes to see what they can do.

Would love to see Liljegren get the secondary PP time but have a feeling it'll go to Dermott or Kral.

Nice chance for Robertson to show something.

Dermott still playing on the right side in this one, not the left. All three faves for the 5/6/7 spots on different pairs - though i think today is bigger for the other dmen, tbh.

Yea, its a great game to evaluate the bubble guys with both the big 4 out and the top 4 D out. Especially interested in the performance Robertson, Ho-Sang, Kase and Gusev.

What’s the rationale here?

pair each of the 5-7 d with an anchor and see who can swim?

Big game for Liljegren to prove he belongs on the team.

Maybe I am reading too much into this, but its looking like Derms and Lilly role's tonight are very similar. I think they are trying to see who will be able to simplify their game better with their inexperienced partner on the other side. It was always a clear competition between those 2, but tonight might be a big night on who gets more of a look going forward

My prediction is that Timmy will look better than Derms tonight. For a couple reasons. I think Timmy is used to playing with a less defensively minded defensemen in Sandin, and often times has to proceed with a bit more caution. I also think Timmy's decision making is far less risky than Derms.

I'll say this though, Derms did look good last year in a reduced role, but he was also given Bogo to as a partner who was an absolute rock.

Should be a great competition.

I have to admit I do have a very strong bias towards Timmy. I just have so much confidence in him as a player. I think he is going to be an absolute stud in the NHL. If he plays his game, he should be a lock for the lineup IMO

If Kerfoot doesn't stand out this game it should end the Kerfoot-Nylander duo I've been seeing thrown out there. We really want Nylander having a 25 goal 20 assist season?

Should be interesting to compare how Sandin, Liljegren, and Dermott play and who QB's the PP1 and PP2.

My guess is Sandin gets top PP duties because Keefe has gifted him that role every chance he possibly can, while Liljegren gets the tough matchups and top PK duties.

Time to sink or swim Liljegren, I really hope he's given a legit chance to shine, including top line PP duties
