Disregard price, cap, & likelihood...

Given the rumors that Dubas will likely acquire a rental forward, who would you most want on the Leafs come playoff time if its the only move before the the TDL?

Thornton is likely on the wing with either or Matthews-Marner or JT-Willie, but someone else needs to join those 5. Would you rather add a guy to your 3rd line so Hyman can play up or add another winger to your top 6 so he can stay on the third line?

Didn't include Hall because he'd likely be #1 given his pedigree & would be the most complicated to get cap-wise.

Vote your your forward then give your top 3 picks in order.

EDIT: As poll closed:
1st = 100pts, 2nd = 50pts, 3rd = 25pts

Voting totals:
1. Nick Foligno 99 1st, 7 2nd, 1 3rd = 10,275 pts (46.5%)
2. Mikael Granlund 27 1st, 10 2nd = 3,200 pts (14.5%)
3. Alex Iafallo 22 1st, 2 2nd, 9 3rd = 2,525 pts (11.4%)
4. Kyle Palmieri 18 1st, 4 2nd, 6 3rd = 2,150 pts (9.7%)
5. Eric Staal 18 1st, 2 2nd, 1 3rd = 1,925 pts (8.7%)
6. Eric Haula 7 1st, 2 2nd, 1 3rd = 825 pts (3.7%)
7. Tanner Pearson 7 1st, 1 2nd, 1 3rd = 775 pts (3.5%)
8. Ryan Dzingel 4 1st = 400 pts (1.8%)

1) Iafallo
2) Haula
3) Pearson.

Iafallo's cap hit, especially with retention, is the easiest to fit in and he provides a lot more value than the other options. Haula is cheap and easy to fit in, and can provide good bang-for-buck without costing us any major assets. Pearson requires no quarantine and should also not demand a large return.

In the this case, give me the closest guy to Hyman there is, a swiss army knife that can do everything, especially PK. I'd imagine this is Foligno.

Foligno
Granlund
Iafallo

er you missed the best UFA forward.

Probably not including Hall because we can't afford him without dumping Kerfoot or Andersen, which doesn't seem like something the Leafs are overly motivated to do at this point.

1. Foligno (Checks every box for us...perfect fit)
2. Granlund (Checks every box except for leadership and physicality)
3. Iafollo (Similar to Granlund)

Besides maybe Palmieri, I don't see any of the other guys as good fits.

I think Palmieri actually given his rambunctious, gritty and versatile style to give us a Hyman type second option, but the caveat is how much will he cost? Similar to Foligno and Iafallo. Seems like the Leafs need an Italian American!

From this list....... maybe Haula - he's been deep in the playoffs, kind of fits what they should be looking for, aside from adding a Wayne Simmonds type up front. Think they should inquire about a Dman too - maybe bump Dermott out and have that insurance policy if someone like Muzzin goes down with injury again.

I'd hope if the cost is too high, or they can't get any of their targets, then Robertson would be a serious consideration at LW

100%. Iafallo should absolutely be the top-choice. Seigel is right on the money here.

He'll be easy to fit under the cap. He doesn't have much of a reputation so the asking price should be on the lower end.

And his playstyle is really akin to someone like Blake Coleman: Underrated defensive value (he has excellent defensive impacts and is LA's #1 PKer) and is effective on forechecking + puck retrievals. He'd bring a little more of the good kind of grit to the top-nine and gives Keefe the ability to run one primary forechecking/retrieval player on each line in Hyman-Iafallo-Mikheyev.

Plus Dubas has swung a few trades with LA already, so there's a working relationship there.
