You should never rest on your old laurels! Hasek, Lidstrom, Kronwall, Datsyuk practically won those games. He was in the right place at the right time. Just as Matthews, Tavares and the rest are winning games for him now. But the fact that he has only one dusty ring and two old medals, that practically any Canadian coach would have won does not make him shine now. It even raises the question how the **** have you not won more with the players you have had?

He also got the most out of a average Ducks team. You can make the case for any coach in the league that they won because of the players they had. Berube won a cup with a Blues team with some talent, but alot of hardworking players and great goaltending. Fact is, this current Leafs team has not shown they want to work hard to accomplish something. Until that happens, we will continue to be disappointed.

Hopefully this game we see Tavares dominate. He's looked visibly slower compared to last year.

Not to take anything away from Tavares, but he was always this type of player. Not the greatest skater, not flashy. You could watch a whole game and not even notice him, but somehow gets a goal and assist. Hes a smart player who knows where to go.

Ancient history. The value of that on a resume today is near zero.

Doesn't take anything away from him at all. He's a smart player, a great player and we're lucky to have him.

Probably, but Im just making the point that for any coach in the league that has won the Cup, you can make the same arguement as to what players they had on their team. The Penguins had Crosby/Malkin/Kessel and Murray, does that make Sullivan a good coach or just lucky? There have been plenty of teams with lots of talent and good coaching that haven't won either, so it really boils down to the players, and coaches are praised too much when they win and criticized too much when they don't.
