This is the time we should recognize Travis Dermott, and the first season he had with the Leafs. I don't think people have come to the conclusion, how good he can be.
Dermott is a small sample size... and he hasn't had the real tough competition at this point. Having said that, his stats are kind of out of this world so far. For example, the teams SV% when he is on the ice even strength, is 95.2%... ok, only 37 games... sure. His corsi 55, relative corsi 6.4, fenwick 54.3 relative fenwick 7.2. From a stats perspective, there wasn't a better NHL D man, on those combined stats in the NHL last year. Small sample size, let's not get too excited here. He was on ice, for 29 GF, and only 13 GA. "IF" he could translate such a small sample size, to be even close over a full season, people would be talking about him, very quickly as the best defensive guy on the Leafs, and it wouldn't be close.
