Haha yeah, it looks like they just pulled the names out of a hat or something. Looks pretty good though, I think it's because with all the talent we have, any random combinations would look good. :)

I'll admit that pulling names (and numbers) out of a hat is my method for the predictions thread on here. :sarcasm:

The changes look fine, and some form of shakeup was inevitable. We know the roaring start the PP in particular had wasn't going to maintain itself, but it had leveled off more than hoped. I should've mentioned that my take on the changes was meant to be a commentary and not a criticism. Agree that the talent should "speak" for itself and hopefully what looks good on paper will also look good on the ice.

What's this nonsense about "splitting the powerplays" and 1 and 1a powerplays. Matthews has been demoted to the second PP unit.

Gardiner played centre up until college I don't get why It's such a surprise to people when he's forced to take draws. In his NHL career he's taken close to 20 I think and won around half. It's why I think he should be apart of the 5v3 or 4v3 penalty killing units.

Edit.

Apparently he's only taken 3, won 2. I thought he had taken more than that.

I wonder if hes going to sit on the bench Thursday? He did practice today

I was optimistic he'd start tomorrow since his name was listed above Hutchinson's, but I don't know if that always holds that meaning. Being backup would still be fine though, but if that's the case, I hope he doesn't draw in since that should suggest things are going alright vs NJ.

In the Long run I’d take Marner Tavares Nylander and Rielly , but right now I’d take the Boston’s top line and mcAvoy.

Point Paces:

Matthews 114, Marner 107, Tavares 92, Rielly 88
Bergeron 115, Pastrnak 99, Marchand 92, McAvoy 53

5v5 xgf%

Matthews 51.7%, Marner 54.2%, Tavares 55.3%, Rielly 50.6%
Bergeron 55.5%, Pastrnak 54.3%, Marchand 56.2%, McAvoy 54.5%

****, we need him against those Boston mother****ers.

I would tend to agree. But I would way rather them hold off and ensure Freddie is good to go. We don't need to force him into action sooner than usual, look at the ongoing injury trouble that has done to Price.

Not sure where you learned math but with 40 games remaining Mathews is on pace for 94.714 points not 114 and that's assuming he doesn't miss more time .
For the record and your future math problems : 39 points divided by 28 games = 1.3928 points per game , times the remaining 40 games =55.7142 , plus his current 39 = 94.7142 .You only missed by 20 points eh !

You should be less condescending in case you're wrong (which you are).

Can't speak for the guy but I'm sure he meant full season point paces and didn't prorate every player to factor in any games missed.

Not a fan of those lines. Nylander was just starting to come around on Matthews' line, and Hyman should be on the 3rd line.

I would prefer a top 9 of:

Kapanen-Matthews-Nylander
Johnsson-Tavares-Marner
Marleau-Kadri-Hyman

I think it's most about trying to spark Kadri than demote Nylander. We need more from his line if we're going to win.

obviously, those were 82gm paces.

more interesting, of course, is that you only complained about Matthews' pace, and not bergeron's or mcavoy's.

Pretty much equal....I still like the intangibles that the Boston’s bring.

i always wonder if fans like that miss the days of about 10 years ago. What were they like back when the team was actually bad

I know, and at the half way mark of the season, we are on pace for 112 points, that's far over the team record they set last year. It's true that they still aren't playing to their full potential every night so just imagine how sweet it will be once they do start playing every game like that Vancouver win.

And that's the thing with being a good team now it is all about finding that peak potential. Hopefully they do about the time playoffs is starting. But until then us as a fan base need to be patient and enjoy the ride!
