Maybe Leaf fans are a little crazy.

I can see the BJers keeping Panarin. But for value sake at best you're getting a 1st and a good prospect for the rental.

Anderson, meh. Hes good but we aren't talking all star good or anything here. Hes a 40 point player who helps even when hes not scoring. That's a great 3rd liner or poor 2nd liner.
When Cam started slow last year because contract issues Andy played on that line until he got hurt and was on pace for over 30 goals. He is a top 6F with 55-60pt potential in the 30g 25a area. His 1st year was all 3rd line and lower with 0pp time and he hit 18g. Literally never 1sec top6 minutes. The next year he played top line and was on an over 30g pace but had an injury that kept him out like 20 games and he was moved down to the 2nd line because Atkinson exploded. So he ended at 19. This year the mid 6 has been shuffled everywhere because no C would step up so our top line was the only stable line and Anderson started slow but right now he is back to killing it on the 2nd line playing withFoligno and Jenner. If anderson had Mathews or JT he would be a 30g PF and be a star.

To TOR: Panarin (pure rental) + Anderson

To CLB: Kadri + Kapanen + Zaitsev

Kapanen is trending well and could step into Panarin’s spot on the top line. Kadri is a more effective 2c for the Jackets and allows Jenner to slot in properly as 3c. Zaitsev is a cap dump but the cost for adding 2 good top 6 forwards with many years of control.

Leafs go all in while clearing cap space for next year. Panarin would add another dimension to the left side of the Leafs offence for the playoffs. Anderson adds the size and snarl that is currently missing up front as well. Leafs end up with Anderson and cap space for 19/20

Generally when everyone on both sides freaks out, the value isn't to bad and actually close to fair. I probably wouldn't do it though.

Columbus has no need for Zaitsev. You want to dump salary start thinking about Kapanen and Zaitsev or Marleau for something like Milano and a 2nd

or it hurts both teams. But as far as it goes for the CBJ it doesnt help and hurts our cap horribly and would cripple us. Zaitsev is one of the most negative value players in the league. You cant replace what Anderson brings either. He is one of the only true PF in the league and he is still RFA. The asking price for Panarin alone based on reporting for example is from BOS and its Debrusk+1st+prospect.

So take out Anderson and Zaitsev, and add a 1st from TOR and thats likely the ask from GmJK

TML fans always freak out, CBJ fans are freaking out because they're doing TML a favor. CBJ won't have to take a literal cap dump at a position they're deep at for Panarin or Anderson, especially both.
