We would need to add a lot to get Parayko.

He's better than Larsson, so we'd need trade a player better than Hall to get him apparently :sarcasm:

I agree St Louis shouldn't do this for a few reasons, but comments from their fans in here are ridiculous... This kid still has a lot of work to do to be a top dog.. JVR is an established first line player. No superstar, but a legit first line winger... And he has no value, while 1 season has this kids value through the roof?

Well as things stand, he'd be at best the third best LW on the team and arguably fourth if Fabbri doesn't move to center. For our specific team, he probably doesn't hold a ton of value unless other players are moving positions.

The Blues already have 2 top line left wingers in Steen and Schwartz. And Fabbri is a 2nd/3rd line already at 20 years old. There is no room for JVR.

Which is why, if you read my first line, I agree the Blues don't make this deal. Shattenkirk likely on his way out either now or in a year. You're reluctant to move the guy who will step up in his absence, much less for a position the team is well stocked. Perfectly sensible.

It's the "JVR has no value" crap and acting like potential is reality. That's what's ridiculous.. Value isn't bad at all, but based on surplus and needs, the Blues don't do it.

Please tell me you're not a leafs fan. I am, and I even know this is a really bad proposal. Parayko's value to them is Reilly's value to us. You wouldn't trade Rielly for JVR if he was on another team, would you? JVR will fetch a mid-late first and a B+/B prospect, depending on where the first is, unless a GM was desperate enough to overpay

I can't speak for that poster but I think he meant no value to the Blues, not no value at all. Could be wrong though.

If Judge Houston is still alive, maybe Lou can figure out a way to get Colton awarded to him in Toronto without having to send any assets to St. Louis? Lou could send us a bag of pucks and then claim damage and require restitution.

JVR

Blues get a top line LW with a sturdy frame capable of the physical style Hitchcock demands while the Leafs get their #1 RD of the future.

Thoughts?

Sturdy frame eh? When you decided it was necessary to include that in your description of JVR bells should have gone off telling you to not hit the submit button.

ive seen posters say that parayko will be perennial contender for norris
which in itself should mean or close to franchise dman. Not even a maybe or good chance but its guaranteed to happen, ekblad too.

Yes. But those posters are Blues fans and out to lunch. Good young dman. Franchise dman puts him in the doughty conversation which is just ridiculous at this point.

:laugh::laugh: That's funny but JVR does not have that kind of value. This offer will have Blues fans like this >>:shakehead

I find the bashing of Blues fans in this thread for their stance on Parayko interesting.

For starters, Blues fans in this thread have just been saying that JVR does not have much value to our team based on our team needs. Which is completely fair and true. Certainly not the same value he has to TOR or other teams. The only person in this thread who has said JVR has no value at all is a canucks fan:
jvr has no value. he will fetch a b prospect at the trade deadline.

2 ufa years is not worth a blue chip prospect
Secondly, yes we do value Parayko very highly, as we should. Blues fans have had the privileged of watching some truly great Dmen over the years and after watching ~100 games of Parayko you will be hard pressed to find a Blues fan who does not believe he will be a great player for a long time. This includes guys like Al MacInnis and Ken Hitchcock. However there are plenty of non-Blues fans who have watched the kid play and are just as sure that he is the real deal. If you disagree, that's fine. Just please stop making threads about him...

Which brings me to my final point. Rarely if ever do Blues fans make threads trying to trade Parayko or otherwise determine his value. It is almost always other fan bases trying to trade for him with a mix of spare parts that are not even close in value or players that may be similar in value in a vacuum but do not fit our team needs at all. Parayko is already the Blues second best defenseman and has plenty of room to improve. The only reason Shattenkirk is on the trade block instead of being happily locked up long term in Saint Louis is how incredible Parayko has been. It would make ZERO sense for Stl to trade Parayko right now.

Easy no from the Blues, as this does not address team needs, nor does it take into account the fact that Shattenkirk is likely gone after this year.

Parayko is valued by Blues fans as much as Leaf fans value Reilly.

This is like a Blues fan asking for a Matthews for Steen type trade.

If you asked this Blues fan to pick between Pietrangelo and Parayko, it wouldn't be as easy as you'd think. Parayko's celing is enormous. He does it all.

St. Louis fans aren't even the ones saying he has no value. Stop generalizing the entire fanbase if you don't want Maple Leafs fans lumped in with the OP.

The reason he has low value to St. Louis is because we don't want to use our cap space on 4 LW that all deserve top 6 ice time.

Kinda like how we don't want to use it on 3 RHD that can all be 1st or 2nd pairing and are willing to trade Shattenkirk, doesn't mean he has no value, he's just the least cost effective player to retain of the 3.

Technically he's better as his job (PP specialist) than Parayko might ever be, but we need Parayko and his low cost way more going forward.

Hence Parayko's not available even for "1st line wingers who are totally underrated" by fans you assume even care about the Blues in the first place.

Disregarding the fact that Parayko won't be moved. I like JVR but we already have Schwartz, Steen and Fabbri at LW, why on earth would we want JVR?

I'm shocked you saw the Oilers trade and thought this proposal would be legit.
