JT needs to play a nice rugged style game right now. A Hyman-JT-Simmonds line might work. Then maybe try Nylander at center with Kerf and Mik. Both lines can play ~15 minutes while giving the hotter line more minutes. I think when playing centre Nylander is forced to get more engaged with the play especially at the defensive end. He's usually up for the task.
You will see JT-AM-MM again before you see grinder- JT- grinder. GM and coach will not let their 11M man play with grinders. Too bad, that was JT's style.

Lots of injuries, some bad luck, and good goaltending was a perfect recipe for losing. Wouldn't mind seeing some line tweaks, I don't like Tavares and Matthews together but not going to overreact after one game.

Haven't read through but am i the only one who feels we played quite well, we just got schooled by Rittich?

PP was out of synch but I have news for some people.

We weren't going to go 56-0-0
Or even 45-9-2
The PP is not going to run at 45%
Players aren't going to go on infinite streaks

The law of averages tell us the above will be broken. Need proof? Look at all the standings and stats in the history of league.

People need to handle the fact that if we go on a bunch of win streaks, losses will follow. If you can't handle a well-played loss after a run of 11-1-2, maybe go cheer for the Utah Jazz or watch replays of the 2015-16 Warriors.

I'll give you the OT loss to the Sens and that first regulation loss to them like 8 years ago at this point. Last night, against the Habs and the 2 to the Oilers? Oh well, close fairly well-played games. Losses will happen. Guess what, more are on the way. I'm sorry, they are. Keep them more minimal than your wins and keep them close. They are unavoidable. Guess what, going 0/7 on the PP is fairly standard after going 5/7. 5/14 is still unreal.

I thought that was what you can call a good loss. If the team were .500 (and fully healthy)? Sure, it is more of a problem. Team leads the NHL (and is a bit of an infirmary after winning 11/14)? Relax.
Exactly i don't mind losing like this team played well it happens

You are not going to win every game and that’s fine. But can we put Vessey experiment to bed along with Barabanov. He looked better but he wasn’t good

It’s actually not fair to some of the kids who are playing their hearts out to have a roaster spot given out to someone else just because they signed here as a free agent

robertsson is part our future, him getting 5-7 mins is better than other guys. Especially when this team lacks speed and some scoring touch bottom 6.

Joey Anderson to me looked engaged in his only game. What has he done to only get one game and what has Vessey / Barabanov done to get so many

JT just can’t keep up with the play anymore. It’s strange because Thornton has been very effective on that first line and he can’t skate either. The difference is that Joe has a higher hockey IQ.

Maybe JT should be used primarily as a power play specialist and as a 3rd line wing at even strength.
Thornton is only on fire after he is back from the injure (missing 4 weeks ???). Before that, he was meh only.

I wouldn't mind seeing Marner with Tavares for a few games. Maybe that would bring him out of this prolonged slump that he's in.

Robertson, I believe, is indeed a part of our future. But, if he's only going to get 6 or 7 minutes a night, he's far better off to play on the Marlies where he'll get lots of playing time, especially on the PP.
