DJ Smith would be great in LA. That type of slow plodding team would suit his skill sets as a coach. A younger version of Sutter.

Compensation for front-office hires is no longer a thing - It was around long enough for us to get burned on it (Twice, if I'm not mistaken - Once for Babs, and once for Lou) and then abolished.

Take Smith. Would prefer if we hang onto Keefe, but there isn’t anything more for him to accomplish in the minors.

This also tells me Quenneville isn’t interested in a rebuild/retool

Take the DJ. He’ll put the special in special teams. We’ll have to settle for promoting Keefe to Leafs assistant in preparation to take over from Babs whenever Dubas reaches the breaking point there.

There are roughly 10 candidates potentially in the running for the Oilers GM job, according to Dreger, with the likes of the Consultant to the GM of the Anaheim Ducks Dave Nonis, Los Angeles Kings Assistant GM Mike Futa, Montreal Canadiens pro scout Sean Burke, and former Toronto Maple Leafs Assistant GM Mark Hunter on it.

Nonis lol

Watching DJ Smith go head to head with Doughty over stretch passes should be turned into a reality show.

Can't see Dubas being happy if his boy Keefe goes. Keefe does a great job with the Marlies, I could see him easily replacing Babcock in the future.
