The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has acquired Vegas' fifth-round selection in the 2020 NHL Draft in exchange for forward Martins Dzierkals to complete a trade between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Vegas Golden Knights. The Maple Leafs have retained a portion of goaltender Robin Lehner's salary as part of the transaction.

The Maple Leafs now hold 10 selections in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Leafs acquired Lehner, retained a portion of his salary and moved him to Vegas along with Dzierkals and acquired a 5th for their trouble.

Main part is the money. Dzierkals has unfortunately not turned out that well, but there were other teams interested in him in the past and this gives him a shot in a new organization. Leafs get another pick for the upcoming draft to replace the one they traded for Hutchinson.

Solid trade for the Leafs to use some of their extra money for a free asset.
