I haven't dug too deep into it, figured someone here might know.
Have the leading forward scorer and leading defenseman scorer came from the same team anytime in recent history?

If so, when?

I'm a bit of a nerd for questions like this and I had a bit of time this am.

The last time was 1988/89. Paul Coffey and Mario Lemieux.

Pretty crazy. It'll be interesting to see if Barrie can hold off Adam Fox.

Fox and Letang are both done I think.

Geez, just looking back at that season. In the entire league, only Patrick Roy had a SV% higher than .900 with a blistering .909.

Was curious, looked up at that Pens season. With the number 1 forward and number 1 d-man they managed to sweep their opponents in the first round and lost in 7 games in the 2nd round.

Wonder how the Oilers will do in comparison

A more impressive stat in my opinion:

Not since 1984-85, has any team led the league with the top two forwards and the top scoring defenseman. Edmonton did it then with Gretzky (208), Kurri (135) and Coffey (121). It has only been done by five teams, eleven times in 100+ years of NHL history. That's some pretty elite company, especially considering fewer teams back then and less parity. Unfortunately playoffs haven't been very kind to these teams. Only three went on to win the cup. Let's try and make it four.

20-21Edmonton
84-85Edmonton
73-74Boston
70-71Boston
66-67Chicago
63-64Chicago
54-55Montreal
52-53Detroit
51-52Detroit
49-50Detroit
39-40Boston
