It felt like the Habs got hosed at the time and it played out that way. I know Thibault was a top goalie prospect, but I can't believe they couldn't have gotten something more for St. Patrick, even given the unusual circumstances. I know there was an offer for Fiset and Nolan, which would have been better than what they got. I wonder why more teams weren't interested??? Maybe they would have been better off working things out with Roy to finish out the season. Habs still have a long way to go to get back to being a top contending team.
Yes it was days/weeks before Nolan was traded. Serge Savard did the negotiations and was fired before it could be completed.
Yes, this was the deal Serge Savard was negotiating from the first few games of the season (only, if I recall, there was a 1st Round pick included).
