i only caught 2 fog devils games this year. the home opener and game 2 of the quebec series. He was pretty good the first game. but that game against the remparts in febuary was amazing. i think he had a hat trick.. if not it was 2 goals for sure, but his slap shot is sweet. Next to kempe and esposito, he stood out the most . (kempe stood out more than espo)

Interesting fact....I actually played hockey with him when he was younger. He played offence all throughout the time I had played with him, which probably explains why he is a good offensive defenceman. A goalie I know played recently with him and said his wrister was pretty advanced. That's my $.02.

Is T.J Brennan a career AHLer?

T.J Brennan has dominated the AHL as a D man over the short course of his career, including a 25 goal, 72 point campaign (76 gp) in 13-14. He is only 26, was drafted 31st overall and has never been given a legitimate shot at the NHL. He was poised to play for the Islanders in 2014 until they traded for Leddy and Boychuk and was shipped off to Chicago and was again buried in the minors. Anyone have any insight into his game? Is he a liability defensively? He's an intriguing player who can obviously put up and points and seems to be too good for the AHL.

He's definitely a tweener. Ahl all star but can't translate that to the big leagues. I think he'd be able to be a #6/#7 In the NHL as a PP specialist, but his defense cannot be relied apon.

For someone who has put up such good numbers for the marlies, he's never been given a shot with the leafs.

Probaly. Brad Hunt is in a similar boat and can rip up the AHL with some amazing numbers, but in the NHL he cant cut it

He's prone to really bad giveaways. He was actually playing center one game for the Marlies and scored a goal because they were down a couple centers, which shows his worth to the team as a defenceman.

Hunt is also only 5'9, whereas Brennan is 6'1 which won't put teams off like Hunt's size might. Similar numbers though, good comparison.

Saw him live not too long ago. His skating is atrocious. I found it odd that he took so many faceoffs as well (which he did not win a single one). He has a very hard and accurate shot. Definitely not an NHL caliber defenseman, sadly.

And what about Maxim Noreau? Seems pretty good, puts some good numbers, but never has his chance with the Avs last season and this season!

Elite AHL defenceman.

He's definitely a career AHL player but one of the best at that.

In baseball, I think they call them AAAA players.

They should see what he can do at forward. Maybe he can crack the NHL at forward.

Out of curiosity if nothing more always wanted to see him get a cup of coffee or two in the bigs, maybe after the trade deadline?

He's helps bring up the numbers of our prospects, like him in the organization either way.

These guys are valuable in the AHL tho. Boosts the confidence of younger guys when they are getting points. He has a wealth of experience too

.

That is the saying, yes. Players who dominate the level below the majors but can't hit a lick at the MLB level(or pitch or what have you). There's a hundred examples. Brennan is just that, and likely always will be. There's just too many holes in his game and at the NHL level, they're much more exposed.

He's not making the NHL as a defenceman.

I'd be very interested in giving him a look on the Marlies for 10 or so games at forward.

I know he played one at centre but that was due to lack of numbers.

The guy is awful defensively, causes to many turnovers and can be Virtanen-like in his ability to be susceptible to selfish penalties. The offense and his magnificent shot are his only endearing features.

Don't be blinded by his offense. This guy has a lot of warts in his game. He should not be in the NHL.

Marlies lost 2 dmen Holl and Percy to injury on the weekend so that won't be happening anytime soon.
