I can’t think of one reason he shouldn’t be on PP1. Kyle Okposo is the other guy holding down a back spot on it and there is no need for that. Run Risto and Dahlin since Risto has the booming shot and Dahlin the ability to cycle through. I generally prefer 4 forwards and 1D but Dahlin has more offensive gifts than most of our forwards anyway.

I think he will get 10-17 points. Its quite a big learning curve going from big ice to small. And from SHL to NHL as a Dman.
But i would not cry if he got 82 points or more.

There's zero chance he puts up 10-17 points if he plays over 60 games. Zero. lol

To optimistic ? Ok 1-7 then. Just kidding.
I want him to succed but not totally sure he will cope under the preassure being the first nr1 from Sweden since Sundin.

What high end pick Dman who plays right away has had a sub 20 point season? these guys are insanely talented.

So you think he's going to be under an incredible amount of pressure next year because he was #1 overall? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?

Not even 10-20 points. 10 to... 17  What an obscure cutoff.

For a #1 that’s being labeled as “potentially generational”, anything less than 40 points in 82 games would be somewhat of a disappointment.

15 pts would be good considering our horrible team. If you don’t dominate in the SHL you probably won’t score much in the NHL. I don’t think he’ll be much of a difference maker until 20/21. Not looking forward to all of the bust threads...
For what it's worth, he wasn't really used on the PP with Frölunda. Stuck on PP2 and never given a chance on PP1 for reasons I have yet to understand. And PP1 would get like 1:30 of each PP. Would easily have added 10-15 points playing with Lasch and Olofsson.

Very strange coaching indeed. Almqvist is a fine PP specialist but replacing him on the PP with Donovan instead of Dahlin at midseason is a decision I will never understand.

He will be in the top 10 among defensemen in scoring.

I plan to watch every game of this kids first season that I can (not on during the Leafs game). The hype is real and I want to see the next Lidstrom with my own eyes as I was not into hockey when he was in his prime. Karlsson is about as close as we got.

Don't know about that, a minimum of 40 points is asking a lot from a rookie defenseman, especially on the 18/19 Sabres.

Doughty had 27 and Hedman had 20 in their first seasons.

Expecting more than 30 is expecting too much, no matter how very possible it is. People shouldn't be disappointed with 20-30 points from any teenaged rookie d-man in any era. So much of it comes down to PP opportunity and the alchemy that is PP unit success.

Dont know, call Mats Sundin and tell him how ridiculous he sounds. He warned Dahlin about the pressure he will face, that he himself wasnt prepared for being picked as nr one. You get a huge target on your back. Now Sundin was in Toronto so that would add to it a few ton.

I belive he will have a rough first year and then takeoff. Swedes dont usally cope with big hype well. I think i he will work on the defensive play first, get a feel for the much faster and harder game. I want him to do good but not get my hope up before this first season. He can get 17 points and still play realy good D. But i want to be wrong with about 50-60 points...

There are some low expectations. Take Hanifin for example - Even he scored 22 points and in terms of talent these two aren't even close. Aron Ekblad's rookie season indeed should be seen as the minimum expectation. Of course, it doesn't mean that the season is a failure if he doesn't achieve that but I don't really see why he wouldn't.

He's an offensive defenseman first and foremost, I fully expect the point scoring to be there. I definitely don't see the possibility of his season being " sub 20 points but solid defensively" at all. If he's scoring sub 20 points, I expect it to be due to him not being ready for the league, not due to him completely prioritizing defense - That's not his game and I don't think that'd be natural.
