Watched Byram live on Wednesday.
He had a very strange game. Elite skater, great hands, sees the ice very well when he's puck carrying. But he would just not shoot the puck, even when a lane opened up. Also, he fell or got knocked down at least 10 times.
What I did notice from him, is that he doesn't engage in getting rattled by opponents. They were trying to get under his skin all game but he wasn't retaliating verbally or physically.
He also was very frustrated with his teammates when they couldn't get a clean break out, especially on the many PPs they had. He wanted better out of himself and them.
Vancouver is a much worse team than last year. He's far and away their best player. He creates more space and offensive opportunities than any forward on that team. He's doing fine, and Colorado will love this pick.
