First 5 minutes of that video is just hits, but after that you can see the kid has pretty good puck skills + passing ability.

Seems like one of the few times Russia has developed a defenceman with the skills of a an elite forward produced through the Russian styled training. He looks like a good one.

He looks so big, and according to Elite Prospects, he's just 6'0. The KHL site with 6'3 is probably closer to reality.

He's also listed on the KHL website as 196 pounds, so he's a lot bigger than the EP listing. From those highlights, his talent looks fantastic, but he seems to have some problems with being over-aggressive. He might be similar in style of play to Bode Wilde from the 2018 draft. If he can make better decisions, he looks to have 1D upside. I wasn't planning on watching much of the KHL this season, but if Nikishin continues to get regular minutes for Spartak, it might be worth tuning in.

He had an assist last game. He’s been playing full time with the KHL team. Minimal minutes. Maybe next season he’ll take more regular shifts.
