Prediction time...one of the biggest losers from the purge of the front office, the firing of the trainer and the bizarre player moves will be Trevor Linden....guy walked on water in this town, but by the time this "re-build" "re-tool" or "reorganization'" (or whatever you want to call it) is done, he'll have used up whatever goodwill he earned as a player....too bad....he should have stuck to his regular businesses and passed when the Aquaman came calling.

Gilman worked in Phoenix when they're team was beyond awful. So I'm not how much I trust his hockey decisions. He also didn't oppose any of the NTC's obviously he thought Higgins and Hansen were part of a dynasty package that couldn't be easily replaced. The last regime failed to have any foresight once so ever like zero it's sad.

Those NTC's are a good thing. They're excellent contracts for what these guys are.

Yup. Mention Kevin Lowe here in Edmonton and nobody even thinks of him as a multiple cup winning player.

Completely agree.

He's invested in local businesses as well (Trevor Linden Fitness) and while I don't think those will "go under" per say, they definitely won't have the appeal that they once did.

It's going to be eerily similar to Linden's stint as NHLPA President, where he entered the position as universally liked by the players but by the time he left, his reputation had taken a big hit.

And keep in mind that Linden's tenure as NHLPA president wasn't nearly as bad as his tenure as Canucks president has been / will be.

It's funny that he's the "PR" face of the Canucks when in reality he desperately needs his own PR team to tell him how much damage he's doing to his own brand/reputation.

Simply doesn't matter. It hurts the teams flexibility when 3rd liners have NTCs. Gilman got it because of the NTCs and the Luongo contract.

1) Gilman didn't just wake up one morning and sign the Luongo contract. Decisions on anything that big are coming from above him and he's just executing the plan.

2) as people have repeatedly tried to explain, the Higgins and Hansen contracts are terrific and an asset to the team. Complaining about them is absurd.
