We being? As far as I know Rienhart can play Centre.

If you speaking from a Sabres pov how does Eichel-Gaudreau not give you a pocket tent. Forget a 2nd line centre. Lol

The Flames need a #1 center and Gaudreau in a package, may get the Flames one.

There is no point in trading Gaudreau in a one for one trade.

Edit: Both teams. Reinhart has not played C in the NHL outside of a handful of games. He’s a RW at the NHL level now.

As far as Gaudreau goes, we(sabres) do not need another left handed shot winger.

Domi for Johnny?

Hahaha. I guess I was more right than I thought. Bergevin REALLLYYYY wants toughness and grit in his new Habs. Even Domi wasn't tough enough so once he realized Max was insisting on being a Centre he chucked him for a Power Forward type. Now MTL have to hope and pray that Anderson is all healed up, if he is he can be huge for us if not we'll have another Alzner situation.

I guess WSH and STL's Cup wins and the fact that TBL had to toughen up, trade for, to win it is pushing the league towards big fast teams.

Faksa (RFA)++ for Gaudreau? Just spit balling here and not sure what the ++ would be. Don't sleep on Faksa, this dude is a legit two way player and a beast in front of the net.

I don't know why the hell the Sabres just didn't trade their 1st for Johnny. Quinn needs years to develop and Calgary could've probably asked for more like Sam coming back

Probably because the Flames don't want to take him for draft picks.

Trading Gaudreau is likely contingent on signing Hall, which may not happen at all. The Flames are probably then looking for a #1 right wing for Gaudreau.

The Flames will be competing next year.

If the Flames sign Hall, Tkachuk will play RW. I can't see them shipping off Gaudreau if they sign Hall. It seems like a signing to solidify their top 6.

Or Gaudreau plays RW. Signing Hall is a win-now move. Trading Gaudreau is a rebuild move. If you need cap, you cut somewhere else

I just can't see Jonny the playoff ghost getting the Flames a 1C. What team with cup aspirations is going to trade a 1C for Gaudreau? And a rebuilding team is going to want futures not a guy that close to UFA.

Calgary is going to end up with a lesser 2C, or a package of futures. Both of which will be underwhelming after seeing the ridiculous valuations some Flames fans are putting on their winger.

Depends on how the rest of their cap situation goes. But yes I'd agree it'd be best best to have both Hall and Gaudreau. This thread is a rumour thread about moving Gaudreau.

I think most are aware that you don’t get a 1C for a winger, no matter how much he produces

I think the general sentiment though is that it doesn’t make sense to move Gaudreau unless you’re getting a blue chip C prospect back or if it’s part of a bigger package for a 1C

Trading him for a middling roster player and some meh prospects would be dumb and they’re better off holding onto him.

Worst case flip him at the deadline the year he hits UFA for picks/prospects if you really don’t thing you can re-sign him and if you’re not in a position to compete

Value shouldn't be too high for Johnny. He's a proven no-show in the playoffs, any teams adding him obviously want to win in the playoffs and will have to peg his value as someone who won't help at all in that regard.

At this point I think the Flames will just keep, the time to trade him was at the first round of the draft. There is no deal out there for Johnny, I think it is 99% that the Flames keep him.

Yeah except Tampa is filled with small skilled players. Actually, Kucherov, Hedman and Point were the biggest reasons they won and none of these guys are bruisers. 2 of 3 are under 6 feet tall.

Lot of teams who still need to get to the playoffs though. Gaudreau can help any time get there at the very least. If he has someone to help insulate him in the playoffs, he should be fine. So if he’s the only puck carrier on the line then yes, he’ll probably struggle in the playoffs or be relegated to a PP specialist.
