maybe you should find out the facts, before going on heresay

NHL totals
385 gp
.915 sv%
2.52 gaa

KHL
12 GP
.913
2.13

his KHL stats are slightly better than his NHL stats.

----------------------
apparently his KHL team always uses the same backup every game - a shootout specialist, who is there in case of a shootout

I think comparing stats after 385 games to stats after 12 games is a little misleading. Anyway I really don't care about his stats. Like I said, I was trying to prove a point to toughfighter. He praises Bryz like he's the best goalie in the game and blames his struggles on poor defensive play. Some blame has to be put on the defense but Bryz has to pull his weight too.

basing ANYTHING on 12 games is silly. but to say they were 'bad' or 'subpar' is simply incorrect.

of course Bryz gets some blame for his play least year. if the TEAM D is a bit better & Bryz is a bit better this year, we'll be fine.

i remain hopeful

that's freaking bull, everything is about blaming goalies, what about the defense? i recall Colorado in 2001 getting defensive players in blake, bourque, foote and they won a cup and roy wasnt facing odd man rushes like bryz is facing, everything the defense does, it's always the goalies fault, why do you have so much hate for the goalies? why are so you so high on them?

obviously the reason philly never wins anything because it's always pointing fingers at one player, im staying by my goalies because they are always play hard and you dont respect them for that, i dont care about what goalie comes here, as long the defense doesnt change, it will be the same outcome, i bet if leighton was struggling like bryz you throw him under the bus for this crap defense?

that's garbage. we need goalies that don't give up backbreaking softies like this one in the playoffs.

there's no conspiracy here. our goalies since Hextall have mostly sucked. it's that simple.

I feel the same exact same way. Guess we'll get a better idea when Saturday comes around.

Oh no....the debate about whether this was Bryz's fault or Timonen's or both is really going to derail this thread about Lavy and his staying power...:help:

what good is a save like that when you answer it by letting in a softie? and i love how you post one save in a series where Bryz's GAA and SV% were downright embarrassing. he was awful in the playoffs. it's not all on him, but he was a big part of the problem.

The series was lost long before the Clarkson goal.

ok, i see where you stand. you post a bad goal [arguably Bryz or Kimmo's fault / shared blame] & i post a great save, yet you still post negatively about Bryz.

ok, i get exactly where you are coming from.

he was slightly better than MAF & definitely better than Marty

because giving up a softie in a 1-1 playoff game has more of an impact than making a great save in a game where he's giving up 5 goals anyway. really, this is not hard to understand.

just because MAF couldn't stop a beachball doesn't absolve Bryz of poor play. they both sucked in that series.

Considering the quality of the "defense" that was played in the Pens series I don't think either goalie should really have their stats held against them. Both goalies were shakey at best, especially Fleury, but wow, it was like those two teams were playing a different sport than all the other teams in the playoffs. And Bryz' mistake/bad luck on the Clarkson goal doesn't overshadow that he was one of the only Flyers who played well in that series.

we get it. you will never praise Bryz. he can do zero good in your eyes.
[which makes it hard to take your posts seriously, with so much bias, sorry]

what did you think of Bryz from March 1st to March 24th last year ?

given that Bryz had time to get rid of the puck, that goal was on him.
Ugg....hes bad with the puck, why do you even put him in a position there to have to handle it....

It was a fluky goal you will probably NEVER see one like this again.

As with MOST goals scored, there are little instances of blame to put around.

When the D has to stay outside of the defensive zone and the Goalie is 1 on 5, THEN i'll blame him for everything. Until then, its a team effort.

why are you a flyers fan then? if you hate the flyers goalies so much why dont you root for some other team then? just give up already.

I tried to introduce a very important debate about Lavy and his system and of course it has to denigrate into a Bryz brouhaha...

I'm sorry I have failed....:(

Your effort is appreciated. However, this ship has sunk.

I'll reopen this once it's been cleared out.

Edit: Never mind. I'd have to nuke most of the thread. Clearly, topics get exhausted quickly when nothing at all is going on.

Edit 2: I'll at least write up a thread summary to see what we've accomplished here.

1) Lavi has a system. It might or might not work.
2) Our team has players. They might or might not work in Lavi's system.
3) Bryzgalov exists.
