Also @Empoleon8771 as I indicated. He was having concussion related symptoms much longer than you thought. Really terrible news tbh.

I hope he can somehow heal. Head injuries seem awful.

I'm glad he put his health first. And hopefully these symptoms go away forever in the near future.

Sucks for everyone involved. We could have really used that defense depth coming up through the organization.

Really sucks for everyone. The kid did the right thing, took his time and worked like an animal to give it 1 last shot, but headaches kept coming back.
This really sucks but he did the right thing here, has his life to live and worry about going forward.

Really sad to hear. Think about what it's like to work your tail off your entire teenage years to play pro hockey and have to retire at 21 due to head injuries. Really feel for the kid although am happy he's putting his health first.

Not to piggyback on bad news this way (Really sucks for Zach), but do the Pens get a compensation pick out of this?

Since he was a 2nd rounder.

Bummed about this. I really hoped he was going to get to play some kind of pro hockey at some point. He's young, so hopefully he has another passion he can pursue.

I really am happy for him that he realized he needed to retire. There are far too many "proud" (read: Idiots) in the league that think they need to keep playing. Each concussion is different in severity, sure, but in the end, each and every single one is brain damage.

Your brain doesn't magically heal itself to 100% after each concussion, after each one, you're losing brain tissue via damage (someone can correct me if I am wrong).

I respect the players in the NFL that realize that you know what, quality of life is 10000x more important than f***ing up your body and mind now and paying for it severely (sometimes with your life) later on in life.

I hope Lauzon finds a new passion.

I honestly was hoping he would earn an AHL contract and find his way back in the NHL proving us all wrong. But the damage is unavoidable.

Nothing but all the best to Zachary in the future. You gotta feel for a kid working his way into being drafted in the 2nd round of the sport he loves, only to have his career taken from him before he could ever sign a professional contract.

    Dude, no.

    Just no.

They released him, he was an invite. So again, no, but c'mon man.
